I think Fong was originally from NH.
He's Fingal mob.
Then while still a kid his family moved south to Kempsey (I think). Not sure when he was in SA. He was at Bonney Hills before moving to Noosa.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

its true, more West in it heavier it gets. 6-8ft of straight south swell is a very different experience to 6-8ft of South West swell.

Looks like a fair bit of board for you Steve. Good paddler no doubt but how's the foil?

Not that good a paddler.

thin, foiled and plenty of rocker.

I bought one of Joe Hudson’s Gunther step ups, a 6’5, off Joe’s Dad.
He was also trying to sell a 7’ or 7’2 that he’d shaped him for Tahiti and it was like 18 1/4, 2 1/4 and it was just what they were doing at the time. But way too long and narrow imo for chopes.
Lot of design improvements since then. Was probably an early 2000s board.
My 6’2 DS would have more volume than it and gone better there too I reckon.

yeah, this was shaped in 2011- right on the cusp.

It's kind of halfway between thin rockered out and more modern step up.

Still feels awesome under the arm.

Man, I got some amazing tubes at Chopes, Gnaraloo and Cloudbreak on that board.

I'm grateful to Gunther for that board.

I went to the shop to see if he had a second handy.

He came out and said he would make me a custom for a very reasonable price.

Jack Robbo nailed Medina with clinical precision. Tube riding through the comp was next level from a range of players.
