Re: Midlengths
Dont know why the guy would “get Malcolm to flatten out,, bla , bla, bla”
Say you want a pulled nose egg, say how much you weigh, say the size/type of waves range you want to surf it in, say if it’s a cruiser or a ripper, and you’ll get a bloody good board.

Re: Midlengths
Yeah my thoughts too Iggy, not suited to the shifty shitty waves on the eastern beaches 90% of the time

Re: Midlengths
Yep, with 50 odd years of experience the shaper more than likely has a pretty good idea of what to make for a bloke.
Re: Midlengths
I reckon when shapers start fking around too much with their designs it's a dog in the making.
Bonzers are pretty flat anyway.

Re: Midlengths
I think you all hit the nail on the head. Tell Malcolm where you surf, conditions etc. Then let him do his thing. I asked for performance rails on my egg. I wanted them knifey. That was my only mod.

Re: Midlengths
Did the smoothest longest arching cut back on my Jye Byrnes this Monday. It just held its line beautifully then on return it effortlessly pillow bounced back off the foam into the refrormed section to race down the line. I was sporting wood. Sometimes it's just one really clean turn to stand out over a handful of good waves. For a seemingly unremarkable board Ive had some stellar moments on it.
Re: Midlengths
You might have mentioned it before thud but what are the dims of your crossbreed & Howard mini? Any further thoughts on how they compliment eachother? I like the look of both

Re: Midlengths
CB = 7x21x3 HM = 7'2x2 3/4x21 1/4
The CB closer to a thruster and great in 2-4ft. Has a domed deck and is pretty loose. Where as the HM thin foil and razor sharp rail is reminiscent of a bonzer egg shape. It's great in faster, larger and more powerful waves. Both are great on the back hand, no tracking at all.
CB all year round and HM Autumn/Winter. Both great.

Re: Midlengths
I'll probably get roasted for junking up this thread with what's basically a dreaded minimal, but I got my Corey graham 8'2" today. EPS 8'2" X 22 X 2 3/4" for 95+kg weekend warrior. Will update with a pic when I take one and remember how to post. Feels nice. Basically conceded that i need more foam for smaller waves and asked for something longboard like, though I'm not interested in nose riding. And finer rails than what would be normal for my weight. They feel nice. Thruster
Re: Midlengths
Look forward to seeing it and hearing the ride report beery

Re: Midlengths
Hopefully Jye will be at the Byron surf festival in Feb & I can have a fondle of his crossbreed.Thud wrote: ↑Sat Dec 08, 2018 3:07 pmCB = 7x21x3 HM = 7'2x2 3/4x21 1/4

Re: Midlengths
Was that a custom Corey Graham Beery?
He makes a nice board - looks the goods!

Re: Midlengths
Yeah mate, took it out just then in average waves kind of out of the wind. Brief surf but needed to try it. Super stoked! Paddles great, in early, smooth turns from default position but stand on the tail and it responds pretty good for 8'2" It's the board I've needed for a while.
Re: Midlengths
Good stuff. He's on my list. His boards look brilliant.
