What about the persistent northerlies that plague the area during summer ... surely they outnumber the southerliessteve shearer wrote: ↑Sun Jan 16, 2022 3:38 pmSummer (December – May)
The summer wave climate is characterised by consistent trade-wind swell and tropical cyclones. During these summer months consistent southeast to east-southeast trade wind swells arrive in southeast Queensland as the subtropical high rotates over central eastern Australia.
The persistence of the southeast trade winds at this time of year generally result in the southern Gold Coast point breaks being the best locations for surfing waves due to the orientation to the impending swell direction and the protection that the headlands provide from the wind.

I had a direct discussion with Slater on his Instagram DM page. I gave him a bit of shit about his views publicly. He replied directly and sent me all these articles on vaccine risk. We had a bit of to and fro, which was quite pleasant. Then he black banned me.
He wasn’t making a lot of sense. My conclusion is he’s just scared of the vaccine.

I don't know why all the smoke is blowing from Kelly's direction, surely its Medina who's the one with the most to lose if he is indeed unvaccinated and can't compete in the Oz leg ... he's actually in with a chance of winning the title, old baldy on the other hand is yesterdays newspaper wrapped around some Victorians flake and potato cakes.

Re: Just general surfing stuff
Thought Medina changed his mind or said that it was a misunderstanding and said he was getting vaxxed after some backlash a while back

I don’t think Gabs has taken an active proselytising anti-vax stance.

Let me try and unwrap this for you ... the surf media, and to a lesser degree the mainstream media have been banging on about old baldy maybe not being able to come out and compete in the Australian leg of the world tour, thus stymieing his chances of a 12th title. Medina on the other hand, has been relegated to a footnote in the discussion.Beanpole wrote: ↑Fri Jan 21, 2022 7:45 amNot in Australia he doesn’t.buddy wrote: ↑Thu Jan 20, 2022 8:03 pmMedina has 9.5m insta followers.Beanpole wrote: ↑Thu Jan 20, 2022 7:47 pmYeah, but Slater is known way outside the realms of surfing.Yuke Hunt wrote: ↑Thu Jan 20, 2022 6:36 pmI don't know why all the smoke is blowing from Kelly's direction, surely its Medina who's the one with the most to lose if he is indeed unvaccinated and can't compete in the Oz leg ... he's actually in with a chance of winning the title, old baldy on the other hand is yesterdays newspaper wrapped around some Victorians flake and potato cakes.
Fact 1: Kelly Slater isn't going to win a 12th title. Its not going to happen.
Fact 2: Gabriel Medina has more chance of winning another world title than most of the WSL surfers. You'd be a poor judge to not have him in the top 5 at years end.
Fact 3: Medina won the world tile last year, so he's the reining world champ.
So it stands to reason that the discussion should be around whether the current world number one will be able to compete in Australia.
Sure mention Kelly, he is the Goat after all, he's even started acting like one, but he's far from relevant.
