Re: Where did you surf today ?
Had another bash today. Got a couple of onshore peaks. Feeling pretty surf fit at the moment.

I'm not having a good run lately. My strategy of patiently waiting for the swell and wind to align on a daily basis is not working. I may have to actually ride around to the western side of the bukit!!!

Haha. Just checked the forecasts, no need to go anywhere for the next week

Consistent chest to overhead, glassy, 15s, no-one out.
Yawn, I'll check it later to see if it's improved.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

That's just unbelievable. Counter to almost every surf trip I've been on.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
It's the end of the wet season but it's still the wet season so:
1. Surf conditions (swell and wind) are not anywhere like as consistent as the dry season
2. It's very hard to predict conditions but in general it's better on the east coast
3. Surfers are mainly euros who don't come in the dry season and think the east coast is as good as it gets and they stay in places close that coast so accessing ulus etc is more difficult so they don't bother.
4. The "serious" surfers aren't here yet
Just after I went out the wind went onshore, the swell was well overhead but conditions were crap.
I'll try again in a few hours

Just a few warm-up surfs so far this trip Steve, but things are looking more consistent

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Dead low at 7:30am, walked across the reef and paddled through the impact zone without getting my hair wet. Just two of us on the primo break, regular head high waves, overhead sets, glassy - we took it in turns, no conflict whatsoever. There was a group of about a dozen surfers on a safer break about 750m away, otherwise no-one.
Wave size increased steadily on the incoming tide. I moved to another peak that handles double overhead and immediately scored a 300m ride up to the other group of surfers, then paddled back and did it again, and again. Then a bigger one that went right through the pack. Had to concentrate on safely moving through them all, a bit like slalom course markers.
Got out after 2 hours. Hopefully the wind will hold off on the falling tide later today.
I hope I haven't offended Trev again. And I got lots for you Steve.

There's been a gentle rain falling all night, it's just cleared and everything is dripping. Good, even head high swell and a light on-shore - no-one out, it's fcuked but could change any time

Went for the late. A mixed bag but not bad if you snared one.

Yup. I waited until the crowd dispersed. Can't believe how crowded the south end got.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Fcuk there's no banks around here. It's dire. As the swell grew yesterday and the easterly wind lay down, there would have been some waves, but there wasn't. Every line just slamming closeouts on straight, shallow banks. Rips are all over the shop, the usual rip locations are not around. If you could grab a shoulder and get 2 turns, you were lucky. Today was worse, nice lines, bout head high or above with a good push, smashed by the wind which picked up through the day to the point of destroying what may have been surfable. Been dire for months now. Water is warm as toast though, good sough dough toast, fresh, not frozen.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Started okay but as it filled in the classic Bondi too small to break between sets and too big for the bank in the sets started to come into play. A few lefts looked good and the odd right. Medium ones were good if they connected right through.

It was quite straight and closing out on quite a few yesterday. Just had to pick the right ones.black duck wrote: ↑Sun Mar 17, 2019 9:49 pmFcuk there's no banks around here. It's dire.
