The moving finger writes and having writ moves on ... now all thy piety nor wit shall lure it back to cancel even half a line ... nor all thy tears wash out a single word of it.
Re: Midlengths
BTW Salty, I had my Shapers Stealth Quad rears in the car and compared them to the DT sides in size, rake and base and geez they were close.saltman wrote: ↑Sun Sep 30, 2018 8:58 amWhere would i get a set of DT sides from ?Thud wrote: ↑Sun Sep 30, 2018 7:54 am6 1/2 as the single. DT sides.
Was purchased for a overhead juicer waves. Does what it says on the tin. Really great knifey bottom turns as well. Can be ridden in the smaller stuff but not really the purpose.
I ride shorties, fishes etc...but this handles faster overhead stuff with aplomb. Tricky sucky backhand drops not a problem. Smooth as silk.
Re: Midlengths
Love the look of the Bing Maui Foil
https://bingsurf.com/collections/maui-foil
“Made famous in 1970 when Bing team rider, Rolf Aurness, won the World Championship of Surfing in Australia, this model is a modern revival designed by Matt Calvani. A high-performance short to mid-range board, the Maui Foil's nose rocker allows for ease of entry into waves while its double-concave tail kick allows for powerful single-fin turning. The rails are turned slightly down forward in the board and come to a down, hard-edge in the tail which increases speed and maneuverability. Ideal in medium to overhead surf, the Maui Foil can be your everyday board or your step-up for big days and is also available in a 2+1 fin configuration for added versatility”
7'2" x 20.875 x 2.75 @ 44.1 litres

Re: Midlengths
Nice. Got a bonzer egg that sorta like that planshape.
Re: Midlengths
I’d be happy to paddle that thing out 90 % of the time. Just cruise on smaller days, and lay down some rail on bigger days.
Re: Midlengths
I think like the plan of the foil model better.Hatchnam wrote: ↑Fri Oct 12, 2018 1:39 pmLove the look of the Bing Maui Foil

Re: Midlengths
Goddard??? What length..Gotta love a tripe stringer tho..just for the classic look
Re: Midlengths
Yes that a Ronnie Goddard. 8.0 I think. His blogs has heaps of board pron.
Jeeaz those Bings are asking $1800. Wow.
Glad I get a few Campbell’s before prices went silly.
My 7.2 egg only gets surfed 20 times a year, but being strongly glassed it should last a another 10 years.

Re: Midlengths
That Goddard & the Bings are beautiful, Bryan Bates from Byron has been putting some lovely eggs on his Insta.... & at $150
Per foot a bit cheaper than the Bings

Re: Midlengths
That looks beautiful salty, love the outline. The deck looks like the love child of 80”s billabong & quiksilver prints, epic!

Re: Midlengths
Amazing looking board Saltman. How'd end up doing the rails. 60/40? Note the slightly sharper nose for the dive.
Re: Midlengths
This is pop out looking but seems to be a decent shape.
https://www.torq-surfboards.com/fun-68.html
6’8” x 21” x 2 3/4”
And only $530
https://www.naturalnecessity.com.au/col ... -surfboard
Is the construction any good? It’s epoxy but hopefully not tuflite feeling...
Torq Epoxy Technology combines a lightweight EPS core with Biaxial fibreglass cloth, Epoxy resin and our unique Shield Skin
Anyone had a dig at one ?

Re: Midlengths
Sounds pretty much like tuflite.
Probably surf about the same as any minimal with similar construction, see my comments here:

Re: Midlengths
No Iggs, but I know the shipped cost of one is $125 so they must be cutting corners somewhere.
They feel really plastic to me.
Probably surf fine though.
