Re: Quiver thread
It will certainly make your board perform very differently.
Much more so than just the quad/thruster combination - which are quite similar - whereas when you compare either of those to the single+ options the performance difference is huge.
And then there's also a very significant difference between the dolphin style singles and the more upright starfin/gull wing/spitfire fins.
You'll never be bored with your board that's for sure

Re: Quiver thread
You will disappear down a rabbit hole of experimenting and end up confused, second guessing which setup is better/worse. IMHO.tootr wrote:OK so there seems to be a number of shapers making 4+1 boards. Surf as a quad, single, thruster, 2+1 and so forth.
On face value this sounds appealing, ie, have the one board in the travel bag/car and muck around with the fins to suit the conditions.
Anyone got one? Thoughts?
Re: Quiver thread
I agree with beery.
Re: Quiver thread
Not to mention spending $$$$$ on fins. I'm a reformed multi fin box player arounder. If you're surfing a lot in similar waves I think it's fun and can be helpful but I often ended up confused about which was better/worse.
Re: Quiver thread
Actually I'm not reformed. I've surfed twice this year but yet,I've just bought another set of fins lol.

Simple is good
Re: Quiver thread

Re: Quiver thread
it's nice to dial in some fins.
Haven't surfed the finless yet. Too much uncrowded high performance surf happening the last couple days.

Re: Quiver thread
Picked up my new board after work yesterday.
Waxed it up and stuck a pad on it after the kids went to bed.
Surfed it before work in oily 3ft cronulla point this morning.
Paddles great, rails are refined enough for me to bury easily. Rocker is much improved from my last board.
Stuck the large FCS AM2 fins in.
Surprised myself the quality of some of my turns this morning.
I'm making the magic stick call early on this one.
Stoked.
