Chucked the foamy in but didn’t have high hopes. Drove to The Bra. Crap. Checked out Bronte and was going to go for a swim but a slightly bigger set made me go back and grab my board. Ended up being bigger than I thought and got one decent sized one right across to the flags. Swells coming up.

The Hook at Santa Cruz
First time back since dislocating my finger trying to help save that bloke. Was around 6 foot and pretty steep. Couldn't catch a fcuken cold out there, never been good with the very steep stuff and the more shallow nature of that break was playing in the back of my mind a bit given last time I was there.
Just need to get down there more and get more reps in. Tides are a week on week off proposition for the dawn patrol at the moment this time of year

Thought it would've been wrapping in there a bit more.
Is there a reason you mainly surf Eastside?
I would've gone to Indicators.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
The lines coming in were great and people were getting some really good rides. The problem was, I wasn't!
Main reason is simply that I know those places well now so I tend to get attached

Santa Cruz has a reputation for fairly assertive localism in the lineup. Grooter and alakaboo, have you found this?

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Nah not at Pleasure Point. Seen a few arguments but nothing that constitutes localism
Steamer Lane has a bit more of that vibe.but never experienced it personally
I'd say it's a reputation from a past era - apparently Santa Cruz has changed a lot in the last 10 years..Lots of cashed up tech workers moved there and house prices have skyrocketed changing the demographics.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Did anyone in the Sydney region surf yesterday? Following a bush walk yesterday in RNP I stopped in at voodoo in the afternoon coming off high tide. Looked to be at least 8 foot of strong south groundswell hammering through. From suck rock thru to voodoo rights was a a total closeout. And the lefts were shifting deep, then wide, unpredictable as all fk. The merries reefs it looked like someone was towing in off the far rights.

Really liked Santa Cruz when we were there. Stayed there a couple of times. Nice architecture. There was a mal comp on at Steamer Lane.

If I didn't need to live in a good school district I'd have moved there already.
