but urgh, bad positioning and wave choice by so many riders.
really shows the difference between locals and blow ins.
i hope the judges took points off for spins on the shoulder.

I cant see this event being finished in anything other than underwhelming conditions.

Just been looking through a few forecast sites, with only 1 week or so days left in waiting period it doesn't look promising.

Re: Shark Island Challenge 2009 Webcast
why's that steve??? challenge your thinking??? Boogers are supposed to be 15 yr old kids, iwho secretly aspire to be Slater, and then trade the boog for a "real mans" board once they "see the light"???

actually ballard is a pretty good rider of the shortboard too. won many if not most cronulla point board rider comps he enters. he was also the dude on the cover of the first riptide mag in 88. and he still is one of the best out island.
us older guys are not going to let those groms kick us out of the lineup at home just yet.
they have to pay their dues.
oops guard beet me to it

yeah I played a few games of touch footy with the bloke in Hawaii.
Seemed like a nice fella.
Guess you don't expect to see older people riding bodyboards...so yeah it does challenge my thinking.
Good luck to you Mr Ballard and fly your bald flag high.

Though i saw you in the carpark, but couldnt see you behind the hood.
There was a few decent ones, but it looked better than it actually was.

Yeah got a few ok ones, its always packed the last 1000 times ive checked it.
I was with some mates from reunion island and they wanted to surf it, so i went out there for the 1st time since 2004.
Not fond of that wave and the several sharks ive encountered there in my days as a grom.
Did you go with glowy to that left in the last solid east swell we had?
He recons it was pumping for once.

Re: Shark Island Challenge 2009 Webcast
I went far northern part of far south on friday, DEAD flat.
Got a few 2-3 inconsistent waves at a long hollow right south of the dulla.
Went central coast sat, wind changed just before the tide got high enough for Marcus D's fave spot to shoot got good, then in changed 6 times before the day (and driving around) was over.
Got Island today, small and low tide. Suck was as small as the island and more crowded than last time.
Feels like winters is over already.
