But hindsight reading is different to the lived experience on realsurf of interacting with others so if you weren't there at the time, while you are entitled to your opinion, it is hard to respect it.

Nothing like Steve though. He used to pay Cletus out regularly which was well deserved. He did promise to pay for me to fly down to surf the Wavepool in Melbourne……which he reneged on……and who can forget him losing Roy Stewart’s aircraft carrier.

Anyway…got things moving this morning with a bit of mud slinging. Might bring him back guns blazing

Everybody bullies beanpole.
Don't know which Nick Carroll you're talking about, but like a bunch of others, I always found him really generous and thoughtful. He helped a lot of people, on and off the forum. Lent his boards, sold them cheap. Egotistical? Fcuk, who isn't on here?
Re: Where did you surf today ?
How boring would the conversations be if no one had an ego in here.

You know what. You’re completely right. Don’t know what I was thinking. I’d been wrong all this time.ajohnsen wrote: ↑Wed Oct 25, 2023 9:16 amEverybody bullies beanpole.

Thanks for setting me straight.

Nick and I always had a very special relationship, always held him in high regard. Internet forums made him flip out a bit though.

Correct. I have reached a state of egolessness that you mere mortals can only aspire to.
That’s just how egoless I am. The rest of you are all egotistical kooks.

He spent most in his career in legacy surf media where his word was undisputed gospel- any undesirable letters to the Ed could be binned or dismissed with snide comment.
The open slather of the internet where people could slag him off or impugn his motives was/is not to his tastes and counter to his experience and self-perception.
