Is this a solution for a problem that doesn’t exist? Are there any trans people on the cusp of qualifying?

It’s a subject high on the radar for Steve. Everyone else couldn’t give a flying fcuk as far as I can see.

Which reminds me a story about Serena and Venus Williams early on in their playing carers. Serena asked Venus if she though their father might be feeding them male growth hormones. Venus asked why she suspected it might be happening and Serena replied that she was starting to grow hair where she'd previously never had any. When Venus asked where she was growing the hair, Serena replied "on my balls" ... thank you, I'll be here all week.

I have a friend that is a sports agent for (mainly) lesbian and transgender skaters, surfers and snowboarders.

That's interesting.
I'd be inclined to agree with channels that this is a non-issue.
Basically a bureaucratic requirement for Surfing as an Olympic sport to come up with an offical policy.
I think at some point there will be an actual case.

I think the Olympics are going to hit a very rough patch and that really is going to be a non issue by comparison.

It may be a non issue ATM.
But it will become more of a problem with the passing of time. As the numbers grow.
Does anyone think it's not unfair to women born as women?
I think the idea of a third competition category has merit.
Look at how complex things get in the Paralympics, trying to keep some semblance of even competition.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

Re: Just general surfing stuff
Shouldn’t everyone just compete in the same events
I don’t see it as so much of an issue in mal comps because the gender difference in ability isn’t as great.

From reading the backstory about the WA longboarder, it looks like they may have been pushed towards a stance.steve shearer wrote: ↑Tue Feb 07, 2023 5:45 amThat's interesting.

Interesting that Bethany is the most vocal. Obviously there's the religious aspect for her but she's already at a pretty big disadvantage given her injury.
I'm supportive of trans people in general life. Not financially like loofy's mate, but overall.
In sports I'm actually more strict than the swimming standpoint (anyone transitioning after age 11 can't compete in their adopted gender), and say that anyone with male shoulder joints shouldn't compete against people with female shoulder joints in a sport where that gives them a physiological advantage.
Re: Just general surfing stuff
I tuned into the Pipe comp for a few minutes, Pipe looked like Trigg Point on a bad day.
Odd call to run the comp.

I watched the Clubs Comp in Newcastle for a while on the weekend. Nice conditions. Go Kingy.
