Mine is 7'11" tuflite which is half like a performance mal. Very comfortable in small to overhead surf. A bit buoyant for hollow waves but apart from duck diving they are solid.marauding mullet wrote: ↑Thu Jul 09, 2020 1:58 pmI think it was Beanpole? Someone here had a McTavish carver and liked it.

The tuflite ones I’ve seen have a round tail and the PU ones a squash

Re: Midlengths
As you were Beanpole, it sold almost straight away. (Not to me)
Re: Midlengths
I've had three of the surftech ones MM, something like a 7'2, 7'6, 7'11' (can't remember the exact sizes) all of them where great boards, go well in anything from 2' to double overhead. Never got them in anything really hollow though.marauding mullet wrote: ↑Tue Aug 23, 2022 1:17 pmThanks foamball, legend! Re: Midlengths
Missed this one. Haven’t ridden mine for a while. I have a Carver Fish too. They don’t make them anymore. That was a good board for solid waves. A bit more gunny with a conventional pointed nose. Easier to duck dive. I caught some good big rights at Balian on that board. I love how that breaks on the right with a bigger swell. The peak just pushes you into it as it backs off and then stands up properly and walls right through.

Re: Midlengths
If I was thinking about a “midlength” I would get a Tolhurst. Hand shapes are cheaper than his Thunderbolt ones

Re: Midlengths
I've got a 7'4 Tolhurst Thunderbolt, but I think I'm gonna take a 6'6" Element "Scrambled Egg" and a 7' Aloha Fun Division to Bali

I’m putting a steering wheel on it.
Complex bottom apparently. You’d have to ask someone who knows about board design. Seen a few peeps ride them and they look good. He's a pretty good shaper I'm told and I have his fish, that I like. This for larger and juicier. So guess we'll see.
General comment. Reckon modern US shapers are better than Australian. I have 3 CI's (Rocket Wide, Mid and Fred Rubble), Christensen Fish and have had JS's (Monster Box, Nitro) and DHD (3DV, Margo) etc..and they seems average unless you are buying one of their HPSB, the rest are OK only, bar MR of course he’s the bomb
Most board riders and peeps here ride CI or Pyzel
Just stirring. Who knows who the better shapers are.
