Sounds like a good therapist, and you were a good compliant patient.

Re: Front shoulder pain.
Thanks, Cranky. I went through a few sessions with a physio about ten years ago when I got the initial damage to my arm. I was driving my son home from Soccer and a car plowed into the front of the car trying to cross two lanes of traffic from a side street. I braced myself with my left arm and it got jarred pretty bad.
While it's been manageable after an initial year of ongoing issues it is still weak and too much pressure or RSI can make it sticky and sore. Usually I work around this. Might have to get it checked out again though.

Re: Front shoulder pain.
So I checked out a couple of physio videos and tried a couple of simple exercises for specific shoulder strain areas. One worked really well. Actually related to weight training so I might try it with some light weights. It opens up the joint a lot

Re: Front shoulder pain.
Chuck up a link Beans, I’ve got front shoulder pain which when I was boxing was caused by the upper arm being pulled forward at the shoulder. That was a few years ago but feels like the same thing again.
Re: Front shoulder pain.
Although these are for rotator cuff problems I think they encompass a pile of shoulder problems:

Athlean-X was the site. Plenty out there though. Can't really post links on the iPad.

This is good, thanks Cranky. Getting some shoulder pain, I think from initial weight session where I put too much loading, then surfing.Cranked wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2020 9:34 amAlthough these are for rotator cuff problems I think they encompass a pile of shoulder problems:

Def across front/side. Hurts when I throw a heavy ball (in this example a water soaked soccer ball my son left in yard) overarm, which was surprising and not enjoyable.
These exercises seem like good, slow mobility management

Re: Front shoulder pain.
So I've worked out that my pain is on the very outside of my shoulder after watching the video. So if I start with my left arm at 45 degrees across my chest with my fist up and rotate it to the left while turning my fist so the fingers are facing up that opens up the shoulder joint. Immediately relieved tension and seems to be improving steadily. It's kind of the exact opposite motion to paddling.

Ummm, just by-the-by Beanie, the pain for Rotator Cuff injuries manifests in your shoulder and upper arm.
I found the pain moved around a lot and the upper arm pain was very confusing.

Go see a Physio Beano. You want to be sure about these things.

Re: Front shoulder pain.
That’s a good resource, Cranked.
For the instagrammers
I find some simple band exercises like these 8 are good to do. Will help improve strength and ROM.
If anything is painful I wouldn’t do it, and also do it in front of a mirror and compare to the video (careful that you’re not shrugging up) once a day or every other day, start on a light band and progress up (see what you can tolerate).

Also, improving thoracic spine mobility (base of neck to the low back) is really good for reducing incidences of shoulder pain.
Something like this is a good place to start

Or thread the needle exercise.
And as above, go and see some one.
Nothing wrong with spending money on your health.

Re: Front shoulder pain.
Yes, I may have to. I will probably try a different one than the one I went to.
