Re: Midlengths
I haven't had the 6"4 out in anything bigger than head and a half and it was OK.

You’re still a legend giving it a belt like that, Cranky old son.

Ditto.
Only ask about weight/volume as I don’t have a single board with litres on it.
I have a 6.2 by 21 1/2 by 2 3/4 Campbell Octafish that probably comes in around crankys board I guess.

Thanks Beany, septuagenarians are an overlooked and under-appreciated segment of society.

Re: Midlengths
Iv said it before Cranked, it’s astounding how you go about your business. Hence why a lot of questions about board feedback,
Re: Midlengths
CI putting out a mid length. Times are a changing. Go to Devon Howard’s page to see him ride it. It looks ok, I reckon he rides the FC Huevo better. Looks like the same wave

Re: Midlengths
Just a reflection of the average surfer becoming fatter, older, more unfit and less skilled. As a surfboard business you'd be mad not to cater for this market
Re: Midlengths
Indeed. Might have to get one
But CI. I heard JS were thinking about one. In Sydney it’s still HP shortboards for older surfers. Many would rather quit than be seen on a mid length. It’s just so silly, but that’s people I guess.
I’m up the coast a lot now and there’s a lot of good younger surfers, the over 40 set seem a lot more at ease on bigger boards. Probably because their age and skill loss is polarised against the back drop of the young rippers. Whereas Sydney per capita the level isn’t as high and you can blend in with the others hanging on too tight.
So I’d be surprised to see many of those CI’s in Sydney. But if people were honest and didn’t follow trend or listen to their mates, they’d probably have a blast on them.

Re: Midlengths
People have been catering to that demographic for a long while. I must say I've noticed a lot of drop off in the older crew around here in the last year or so. If you look at the Mal Club you would be lucky to see many of them out there any other time.
There's a lot of mid lengths and fish ridden by younger surfers. Plus every second surfer is on a foamy. This strips away the advantage old coots had for a while since everyone is catching waves easier.

Re: Midlengths
Yep, there's a reasonable call for them since Tama is often Foamies Only and you can get waves in the flags everywhere else. I should have been on mine today. Took the fish out.

Guy up here has heaps of boards and rides well. His brother is a shaper of note on the Sunny Coast. He rides one of those MF foamies pretty well.

You aren’t the room Yuke You are just a wonky cafe table with a missing rubber pad on the end of one leg.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

Re: Midlengths
I've now got an alternate (ie. not McCoy) quiver of boards for the bukit: a 6'4 Bonzer Biscuit, plus 7' and 7'6 Hypto Krypto inspired boards from Surf Warehouse.
The 7' and 7'6 Hypto Krypto inspired boards have skinnier rails, pointier noses and tails, and more tail and nose rocker than the bigger Hypto Kryptos, which are huge and seem built for guys like MM, only bigger.
I'm hoping I can ride them in fast breaking double over head. Should be a doddle I reckon, but paddling in may be a problem compared to the super high volume 7'4 and 8' Nuggets I use when its big.

I've got a 6'6" and a 7'er in those Tajen's. Run them with Webber flex twins and a nubster in the 6'6" and with twins and fcs bonzer sidebites (the smaller of the set) in the rear quad plugs or a straight quad fin set in the 7'er. They can handle size no problem. Can't post photos here.
