Thinking about traction

1. Flat slater designs black
2. Flat slater designs grey
3. Versatraction 3/4 deck coverage
4. Wax

Send your two bobs worth
I had a board with versatraction for a while. It’s pretty good stuff. I would get it again for sure. No wax is brilliant, in the water and not getting wax all through the car.
Does it stay clear beery?

Just for nostalgia's sake, I'll throw in some classic Steve.

I've only ever just ripped the fcuking things off.
hate tail pads, they encourage nothing but overly tail based conservative thruster surfing.
ha, ha.

Board was tinted so not sure but it never looked dirty/grubby, and the colours always looked awesome underneath it. I wouldn’tve considered it but I got the board 2nd hand with it already on. I’m sure it could be cleaned pretty easy but yeah, it never appeared dirty. It’s a little thing but no wax is pretty damn handy. I remember the freedom of being able to throw it in the car without fear of getting wax everywhere, liberating 😂.

I also thought it would irritate my hairy legs but it was fine.

I’m not overly hairy but everything tears up my chest so I always wear a rashie or short John haha. Don’t recall having issues with it ever mate

I was a bit surprised how good it was to not deal with wax. Doesn’t melt in the car if you surf before work in summer, doesn’t get on clothes or in your leg hair.

Salty, yeah it’s not cheap. If the price came down I think many more people would get it

Pirate, if you tried it on one of your tomo boards you wouldn’t need much

I was wax free for a while with the exposed cork decks and loved it. but it isn't as grippy as wax and I found it got slippery over time so I eventually started waxing them anyway.

It also tore my chest and nipples to shreds.

Is it whorled and creased?

With or without wood?
Balls are really whorled and creased. Hairy too.
Not sure if this makes them more hydrodynamic however.

Took it for a paddle up at the beachie on Saturday. Conditions less than ideal. 2ft @ the alley.
Was nice to get a feel for it. Great size board for me. Love how it paddles. Can’t wait to get it in that 3-4ft range.
You would be almost packing for Sumba by now?
Like the dims of that board - I think I will shape something similar in a bonzer
Soon.

Have trawled a fair bit of this thread, not much on pure longboard replacements.
Looking for something for unshortboardable small days, but needs to be sub 7ft to stay in my car. I'm not interested in surfing it if it's over waist high.
Want to be able to compete with longboarders on the get in early ability, and be able to cruise on shin high waves is basically the only criteria. I normally ride short alternative performance boards from 5'0 to 6'0 but want this one to more about gliding in tiny waves.
Options in my head are:
- oversized mini simmons around 6'0 (anyone ridden a jim phillips jimmons?)
- 7'0 stretch IT style shape with a stinger between the feet and quads
- mid to high 6ft range single fin with flat rocker and plenty of foam

opinions?
