Re: Midlengths
Fun session on the new 6”10 mid today in peaky shoulder high windswell. Real squirty with the 2+1 set up, goes great backhand, high and tight. Hi GSTK

Re: Midlengths
How is it to duck dive?
Re: Midlengths
I surfed the new midlength/step-up hybrid at the super bank in 3ft wind swell this arvo.
Put some bites in it now.
7.5” admiral futures flex fin with modii mini bites 2.8”
Went well.
When the wave bowled out it was excellent.
Can’t wait to surf it in some proper waves.

Re: Midlengths
Easy. It’s pretty low volume for a midlength. Just scoop your duck dive, start a touch earlier, and use your foot on the tail if you have to
Re: Midlengths
I duckdive my 7ft midlength pretty easily up to 4ft.

Re: Midlengths
Duck diving is mainly about nose area.
7’ or 7’6” no problem with a pointy nose.
If you can nose ride it then it’s not going to duck dive well.

Re: Midlengths
His bank account?
I'd say well used after that purchase.

Re: Midlengths
My 6’5 rhythm sticks just went amazing at 2-3ft point.
Probably as close to a 1 board quiver as I’ve had.
Reckon could handle 2-8ft and not be too bothered about wanting a different board.

1100 but, that’s not too unreasonable nowadays.steve shearer wrote: ↑Sat Oct 15, 2022 5:52 pmHis bank account?

I need quality under my feet. Shoes, accelerator, boards. Life’s too short. Sounds like an old fashioned cigarette commercial

Re: Midlengths
Been riding my 7'3" Parmenter Aleutian Juice a bit lately because my back has been giving me gyp.
Had some really fun surfs on it, but it made the transition back to a 6'1" a bit hard.

Re: Midlengths
Finally got it. I’ve got a 7ft as well so can do a quick premature comparison even though I’ve only ridden the 6’6 once.
Caveat is I do not know much about boards, design etc. so grain of salt.
I rode the 6’6 in weaker swell and the board is a ripper for paddle, plane in, stable etc..was great on open face, sucky take off etc…but, needs juice and ain’t a fan of foam climbs etc. Good for 2-4 decent swell me thinks. I enjoyed it but, wouldn’t bother in chopped up smaller weaker stuff. As Steve said rails probably a bit straight and that doesn’t help in what I was in. I enjoyed the ease of duck diving and will use is chunkier wind swell etc. might put in different fins (AM2 fronts and reactor rears, may try Macho set I have that go well with fish)
The 7ft I surfed in winter was unreal, easy to ride and needs juice as well but, due to its length will go in smaller weaker. I know you like the odd mid length, this is a long fish and if you’re going to say surf ok/decent 50% of the time (winter/Autumn) I’d say yes go for the 7ft. If you’re gonna cruise etc and ride in weaker stuff I wouldn’t waste the money on either. 6’6 may be too short for the design generally but I’ll persist.
