Island Cheese Grater?

heard this term being used and used always, what exactly is it? just a part of the reef that has a heap of barnicles on it or something?

yeah, pretty much all the reef at the island is covered in very sharp barnicles. I dont know what everyone else means when they say this, but i just mean the ride you get over surge on good days, which pretty much grates you, if you get dragged across it.
