Business Assignment - Create Body Board Shop!

Post by rabbitt69 » Mon May 19, 2008 4:14 pm

I'm currently doing a business studies assignment where i have to start up my own business, my idea is to create a surf shop dedicated to the fine sport of body boarding, a little bit like bodyboarderssurfco in narrabeen!
i would like to ask everyone out there for ideas of what they would like to see in a body board shop, like things other then boards that i should sell etc.
please help me, i want to put in my assignment what the greater communitee would want!

you should have all the best gear for a decent price, have lounges with big tvs playing continious BB movies and a flowrider to test all the gear :P

the economics behind your claim is just ridiculous, where are you going to have a shop with a flowrider? in the f.u.c.king western suburbs? think things through before you comment you moron

If you passed 9th grade you would know what an assignment is.

I did the same thing, but making my own board company ... custom boards with a "vision statement" to branch into stock boards.

You can use it if you want  provided you didnt go to the same school and i havnt deleted it from my computer ... i got something like 80%-ish :P

just warning you, by asking for thoughts on anything education based, you are inevitably going to have a huge sh*t fight on your hands

but best of luck with the assessment

how about a try before you buy type arrangement.
Allow the customer to purchase the board on a 5-day trial, with a no questions asked refund available. Or, have customers sign up to an exclusive membership where they get 1 board per month to test (for 5 days per board)... etc. Obviously for either of these to work you would have to setup an arrangement to have your suppliers provide these test boards at 'special' prices, etc..

appeal to a localized and more specific market, with 24 brands of bodyboard in circulation atm your gonna only wanna be stocking the brands that will sell within your demograph.

youll really need to play into the hands of the local pros as they will be pulling the most rep, more so than riders in mags/vids, so stocking their boards will always give you that advantage, plus you can chum up and get them into your store to sign their own boards

i agree with lambert, these days people are looking to custom boards, so people will want to buy a pro model board, rather than a basic stock one.
