I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

Surfed A St this morning on the swinger with length. 'Twas pretty small and there were more guys on the bank just north of there than on the A frame.
Still, got a few.
And a guy in the line up says, "I see you've got one of those More boards by Mark Pridmore. He and a couple of others had a good look over it.
Sorry, don't know who he was.

great post
Re: "More" surfboards board porn!
Here's another plug Lard Lad so you can can have something else to piss and moan about.
Last week in Fiji I surfed my 6'3 Quadfather backhand, 1.5OH at Pipes Left. I'm not confident on my backhand so I was a tad anxious. But it paddled in well, never hung up for a second, board had speed to burn, turned where I needed it to, made sections, cannot rave enough about it. I didn't miss a drop for the session. Absolutely the best board I have had under my feet in my surfing journey.
Thanks Mark, exactly the board I wanted, couldn't be more stoked...

Stoked!
Great to hear it.
It was a huge leap of faith side-stepping away from your McCoy only quiver.
If you don't have anything positive, or constructive to say, piss off.
I started this thread to share stoke about Mark's boards free from petty jealousies.

Re: "More" surfboards board porn!
Only two shapers have truly listened to what I have to say and translated that into the best boards I've ever had under my feet. Pridmore and McCoy. I have no reason to BS anyone, I pay the same price they charge everyone else. So while I don't want to bog this thread down with arguments, saying the aku file is the same is a load of absolute merde. There's craftmanship and passion and feedback and testing and results. I'm quite sure Mark has never built a QF with the exact dims of mine, the foil, rails and bottom contours were all altered to suit the transition from what I was previously riding and what type of waves I intended to ride it in. Whether he does that in aku or by hand, the kudos (and my cash) goes to the guy who did it, not some dumbass who thinks he can copy it once it's done.

I can understand the purist/art argument about 100% hand shaping, but computer shaping is the way of the future. Reproducible, easily refined in subtle ways, and you can play with ideas without mowing into a spare blank. Plus the economic argument of being able to pump out more boards at good reproducible quality.
I don't judge either way, a good surfboard is a good surfboard.
Anyhow, back to the topic of Mark's boards... I'm loving the Fish Finger semi-finless at the moment. The core of the experience is a combination of freedom, the sensation of speed, and improvisation. Its improvisation because its so different to normal surfing that you find yourself in funny places on the wave doing very strange things, often at 100 miles an hour, and you need to think on the spot about what the hell you're going to do. For example, you might be trimming along quite quickly however traveling slightly sideways and backwards, to suddenly break into a 180 to have the tail catch and send you going properly backwards. Its in these moments you feel a bit of and then work out what the hell you can do without the fins helping you out. When it all comes together and you ride out of it theres plenty of but when you don't and fall on your face theres plenty of and :? :? which is all part of the fun!
The fins do give you enough control to do some level of deliberate surfing and try to navigate yourself around the wave to a certain amount, but theres always a stack of slip and slide around every corner which takes some time to master.
Unless the waves have a nice wall or pocket, I've been surfing the Fish Finger most of the surf and then swapping back to my HPS for 30mins to make sure I keep that fresh in my mind. It makes the surf much more fun because theres no point in getting bummed when the waves are slow of weak for aggressive HPS surfing.

Hey Cuttle - they had a board named after you at the Fish Fry - its was called a Cuttlefish and was by a Hawiaan maker (didn't catch his name or brand or a pic for you sadly). But it was a wide area quad with curved in fins and the deck was sccoped out like a spoon knee board. Not like a full Greenough spoon with no foam to the bottom glass - but very concave in the deck just the same. From the tail to about 18 inches from the nose - and the overall board length was maybe 5'8" :?
Anyway it looked fun and perhaps the brand was "Hanaii" :? :?
