Skin Cancer Check Up

Had an overdue skin check yesterday. A few sun spots frozen off and one small new mole on my back cut out. Should get results in a week. Over the years I’ve had two BCCs cut out and one Bowens Disease patch scraped off. All up not too bad considering the 50+ of sun damage.

Turns out the small mole was a melanoma. Have to go back and get a bigger chunk cut out next week. Make sure you get regular check ups. Doctor wouldn’t have noticed if he hadn’t had photographic records of my back.

What stage is it at ?

Hopefully a stage 0, which is just a matter of cutting the appropriate barrier out around the site ... but that still around 10mm.

That’s what I think it is from talking to the Doc. He’s going to do it in his surgery so presumably not too big.

Sounds like it, if he's doing the procedure at the surgery.

Unless it's some kind of silence of the lambs scenario.

On a slightly different angle,. Just got an "all clear" result on my most recent bowel cancer screening test.

Yeah, I have to go in for an “inspection” in a couple of weeks. That entails having a keyhole camera stuck up my pee hole. If that’s good I just have it annually after that.

I don’t envisage a world where a camera up your pee hole could ever be good?

No. if you are about to go for an examination where that is the best possible outcome it’s definitely not something to look forward to.

Doesn't sound good but I think I might prefer that to a catheter inserted for 14 days. #*! . Which I had. Just about 3 years ago next week actually.

Yeah, I had one for four days this time last year. At least I will be under a general anaesthetic.
