I was much younger when I had mine done but it was more like a month until light exercise and I was bodysurfing and probably surfing (with pain) within 3 months. 12 months was until full strength but I was still lifting heavy weights long before that. The stabbing pain subsided fairly quickly (for most circumstances). The dull ache post activity lasted for months but dull ache isn't bad. I had AC resections and general grinding to make room and clean things up. And since those are useless vestiges it was an easy recovery. Ligament tears or cuts or rebuilds would be a bigger deal

I was supposed to be in Casino Hospital right now today having bone grinding done in my shoulder.

Hospital phoned yesterday at 8.30am asking you good to go tomorrow - be here at 8am in your pj's. I'll be there with bells on in best horsey jammies I said.

They phone back at 11am duh sorry have to cancel - ortho surgeon has an emergency at Lismore Private tomorrow

Like wtf if it's an emergency just do it now.

And yeah I know I'm a public paxhole and have to suck it up but fcuk that would be a hassle having it cancelled last minute if you actually had a life to run.

Was going to go private months ago and ortho goes nah I'll get you straight in and save the bucks. Maybe I'm thinking it pays to be a whinger and they fix you straight up and fcuk you off. Rang him straight away after the cancellation and said just give me a time and price - I'm over it.

Anyway was looking forward to reporting in direct from Casino with any news from this years Beef Week - was hoping I might get a sponge bath from the queef week queen or something.

Hospital said two month wait but got a call from the ortho yesterday saying two weeks so
Bone grind no big deal so I'm hoping to be back in the water paddling in six weeks or so - just in time for spring

Bike in two weeks and going to start bowling straight away. Left handed. Just to annoy everyone

Initial plan for me was a bone grind and then another a couple of years later and this another 2 years after that. I skipped the grinds. Not sure if it was wise. Either way, I’m here in about the same timeframe

Surgery Wednesday. Home yesterday. Only IV I got post surgery was antibiotics and saline. Anaesthetist did a nerve block so I couldn't feel anything from my shoulder to fingers for 12 hrs. I have both rapid and slow release Palexia (Tapentadol). Have about 5 days supply of both for home. Feel a bit ripped off, but did have a bit of a buzz on the rapid release stuff yesterday. Also taking Panadol between RR doses.

CT scan I had a week before surgery changed things a bit. Ended up with a "reverse" prosthetic where the socket is on my humerus and ball on the glenoid

Started rehab yesterday morning with a physio prior to discharge. Pretty gentle stuff thus far and it's going to be a long process

Just typed out my rehab program, but couldn’t post it due to 403 error. I’m on the phone so can’t be fcuked doing it again and, believe it or not, I don’t know how to post photos from a phone

Anyway, it’s ptetty much

External rotation
Pendular exercise
Neck
Hand/fist
Wrist
Elbow
Scapula retraction
Shrugs

Twice a day. Yesterday I started accumulating fluid in my forearm and hand. Not super tight or uncomfortable, but wondering if there’s anything I can/should do to reduce it. Can’t raise it yet so no simple means I can think of except increasing some of the exercises, but I don’t want to overdo it and potentially Fcuk things up. Any advice would be very welcome. Thanks in advance

Squeeze your forearm muscles, it's lymph that needs to be forced out.

Yep lymph.
Also the thoracic inlets are worth checking. If you have really tight scalenes, pecs, muscles in the axilliary area like subscapularis etc it can inhibit the return of lymph into the thoracic and lymphatic ducts.

So your general neck mobility exercises and stretches, shrugs, scap movements should help with that.
Laying supine head turned away from the shoulder and massaging your scalenes with some cream/oil or mild heat with your opposite hand may help. (If you’re able to do it).

Once the thoracic inlets are clear manually stroking the fluid back towards the neck can help clear it.

Yeah, should have said I’ve been doing that. Also thought it could include blood from the surgery. 24 hrs after surgery the assisting surgeon wanted me to stay another night because I’d bled a little more than ideal. Nurses pointed out that the last 100 mL took14 hrs which isn’t too bad. The surgeon was ok with that and approved discharge

A couple of hours later when the drain tube came out, my total was 400 mL, not 300. Most painful day was Saturday when I had some throbbing. Thought perhaps I may have pushed things a bit and bled, but really don’t know.

Will keep on squeezing. Pain pretty good today. Due an immediate release palexia now so hoping for a little buzz
