Re: Family Holiday destination.
Steve,I surf around the bawley point area, so yes, there are "kiddie" type waves haha. Plenty of men sized waves too. There's heaps of variety. Great fishing, without going in a boat too. Currarong does have a nice spot that'd be good for kids, 2 minutes from the caravan park.
Seven mile beach would also be good.

I was more interested in your relief from the daily grind. Specifically the grind itself and how that is shaped.
I digress.
When is this diversionary idyll planned? If it's soon and you are looking for kiddies corners that face northish' then blueys/elizabeth. Camp at booti booti not boomerang...you'll be gouged by the people you hate the most...some very consistent beach breaks in that area and the fishing is good. Seal rocks and treachery set up has something for everyone, every cnut knows that. The two together are a good package. The best Sydney rocks of all are from wallis lake. As well as that area I also have a natural bias for the stretch between Jervis bay and the 'dulla...maybe a bit south. Clyde river Sydney rocks rank no.2. The picks of the coast in my opinion but that's through the sepia tinted glasses. Ones a long drive the other not a big deal.
As I've typed there is a sense of absurdity.
X2 for Booti Booti + you have the lake right behind there in which the kids can play in - only knee deep for a couple a hundred metres out. Short drive into Foster if you need supplies or a change of scenery...
Great fishing, but the surf's terrible

Re: Family Holiday destination.
Have a look at Manyana/Bendalong. Good surfing for you (Green Island, the main beach is a swell magnet). Some more protected beaches for the kids (although some are very protected), there is a boat ramp (if relevant) with resident sting ray population. Its next to Lake Conjola for fishing (not sure how good it is, but its there, I think you can hire boats).
there are a couple of caravan parks around, the one on the headland always looks nice, although I have never stayed there. Hiking etc.
The main downside is that there arent many shops or anything, its a pretty small town (400 odd people) so you are looking at going to Ulladulla/Milton for a major grocery shop or restaurant or anything really, thats probably 20-25 min or so. I'm sure there is a general store that for the daily stuff (well there is at Lake Conjola). Depends on what your needs are.
Or Lake Conjola itself, pretty much the same place but across the other side of the lake. A bit more developed.

Re: Family Holiday destination.
Lake Conjola has periodic water quality issues, apart from that it's a great spot.
Very user friendly waves (LEFTS!) out front as well.

Re: Family Holiday destination.
Lake is open at present Boo and the water flow is pretty good. Since the sewer system replaced all the septics the water qual is fine. The only time the qual diminishes now is if the lake closes up at the mouth for long periods (year or more).alakaboo wrote:Lake Conjola has periodic water quality issues, apart from that it's a great spot.

Re: Family Holiday destination.
Yeah sorry Duck I knew that the flushing/forced opening was working, I meant when they have sewage bypass/overflow in heavy rain.

Re: Family Holiday destination.
You should holiday in a little urban sydney backpacker joint and see if you can get some temp office work for the week.
Be the reverse holidayer. Get into people's cubes and leave your trash everywhere. Be really loud when people are taking their afternoon nap, come in drunk on your last day and pick a fight.
See what the local custodians have to say about that.

Re: Family Holiday destination.
Yeah. No surf, pretty redneck in the campground but good in the bush sites.
jack and fingermark fishing is off the chain, even land based you can get big grunter and trevally. Crabs galore.
impossible to get live bait, but that won't bother you

So Shep ... whats going on with your choice of holiday destination ? Out with it man.
