Mentawai - Charters

Post by richardl » Tue Oct 26, 2004 2:34 pm

Thinking of doing a Mentawai trip in 2005. There seem to be alot of charter boats out there on the market. Can anyone recomend the top few boats? Any other tips also appreciated....

yeah mate go check these guys out,

http://www.sumatransurfariis.com/home.html

came back a just over a month ago and had a brilliant trip, not the biggest nor the best boat but great value for money and classic crew on board. Never more than 8 guys on the boat, we had 6 and the price stayed the same. Got good uncrowded waves most places cept Maccas. had HT as the only boat for a half a day, they seem to be on the ball!!!!! Have a heap of piccies on the AS.net site if u wanna go look at them, same user name. All up $4000 for airfares and 14 days, everything included, only thing we bought was some duty free spirits to break up the Bintangs they provide!!!!!!!!

Clif not everyone ahs 2 months for there holidays mate. I thought we were doing it pretty quick with 2 weeks but there were some guys doing 7-8 day trips. Each to their own, this bloke asked about boat trips where u do nuthin but surf and have fun, not mud and mozzie infested non air con bungalows. Swings and roundabouts mate.

i know northernbeachesguy (your name is too long lol)

just trying to put the evil little selfish surfing elf on his shoulder whereby he may chuck it all in and go for it. realise it isn't practical ... but is surfing?

wasn't knocking your info at all champ. think that those yachts are good if you haven't much time like you say. but no-one said

just think about how sick it would be to just go for it, endless waves ahhhhhhh.

but don't you ever dream of doing a Mickey 'da cat' Dora?

(if ya don't know him look him up ... bloody cool guy if not a little weird)

as for non-air-con, mozzies, and mud ... bring it on ! there is something in 'discovering' places for yourself . and keepin' it to oneself while people scrap over second-rate hollow trees and maccas. (and there ARE better waves somewhere in indo! ;)) some of us find luxury and fun in other ways

as you say ... horses for courses.
