A Xinhua article from last month about snow sports in the Altay Mountains of Xinjiang - the two locals interviewed in the video have great voices: https://english.news.cn/20230209/75cd07 ... d08/c.html

Change of tack. Going to one of the larger family oriented resorts in Austria. ~70 lifts, 1600m vertical, highest lifted 2800m, i.e. reasonably snow-sure. Snow-sure for Austria, meaning it won't snow USA or Japan style but it is less likely to melt at those altitudes. Some south facing slopes but not as many in the village we'll be in. Car-less village, always nice.

No. It's always a compromise. I always find untracked snow and fun stuff. I'm disappointed in the $50k I'll be spending though.

If it was just me solo somewhere like Revelstoke would be a dream holiday. Or Europe solo chasing storms.

Saw a cool film last night about storm chasing in Greece and the Balkan countries.

Tahoe resorts are flooded today with rain up to 8500ft. Avalanche danger is off the scale from the rain and wind this weekend. Expecting another 2 feet of snow this week on top of a rain crust.

Don’t think this run will be seeing much action. Bear Valley CA.

That's on one of the mountain ranges I have to drive over to get to Tahoe's bigger mountains.

They just cracked 616" of snow for the season, over 51 feet.
Another 3 feet due by Thursday.
639" is the record, they're currently on track for 700.

I found other accommodation. It's got a farm. There is fresh raw milk available daily. There is cheese from the milk. There's natural yoghurt. There is bacon and sausages from the livestock. The price is cheap. $1500/person/month. It's 2 min walk to the free hovertrain to the lift, which comes every 10 minutes and takes 5 minutes.

Looks like iggy's dream holiday.
