A Xinhua article from last month about snow sports in the Altay Mountains of Xinjiang - the two locals interviewed in the video have great voices: https://english.news.cn/20230209/75cd07 ... d08/c.html

Saw a cool film last night about storm chasing in Greece and the Balkan countries.

Tahoe resorts are flooded today with rain up to 8500ft. Avalanche danger is off the scale from the rain and wind this weekend. Expecting another 2 feet of snow this week on top of a rain crust.

Don’t think this run will be seeing much action. Bear Valley CA.

That's on one of the mountain ranges I have to drive over to get to Tahoe's bigger mountains.

They just cracked 616" of snow for the season, over 51 feet.
Another 3 feet due by Thursday.
639" is the record, they're currently on track for 700.

Pretty fucking deep here.

Nearly couldn't find the lodge. You can only see about a third of it, the snowbank is about 6m high.

Fuck it was fun today.

Cold, and not great visibility, but waist deep in the steeper trees.
Even on the greens and blues with the kids it was knee deep in places.

Looking forward to this week. Have to work after 2pm each day but I will be riding hard until then.

Been pretty fun this week, introducing the kids to proper powder riding and some easy tree runs.
It's fun to share the excitement and watch them progress but fuck they're slow. Every now and then I ditch the family for an hour and probably do more runs than in the 3 I spent with them.
