Camping up the north end before the bogans cottoned on was epic.
Sounds like loof wants to camp up the north end.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

Re: Bribie Island Breakthrough.
Just opposite the southern extremity of the new opening, there's a mangrove walkway. And south of that, open grassed areas alongside the passage just north of the Power Boat Club.
The first few pics show the grass covered in sand, the rest the sand invasion of the mangroves. Hopefully it won't have an impact on the long term future of the mangroves.

Re: Bribie Island Breakthrough.
I'm told there's been some surfing going on but haven't found anyone who's actually bothered.
There's potential there for both a left and a right.
Yesterday I noticed waves breaking well out past the "bar". It looks like there's a slug of sand forming up maybe 200 to 300 meters further out.
The big plus ATM is that the massive sweep which uses to form either side of the tide for an hour or so, south of the KBG, has melted away due to the reduced water flow over the old bar.
Makes surfing the HV peeks more pleasant.

This pic clearly shows how the run out from the increasing number of canals angles diagonally across the Passage and eats away at the inside of Bribie.

Note the sand slug, well out from the new opening.

That's the tidal prism stuff we were talking about Trev.
And the water being lazy.
I expect the tides to get a bit messy for a while, as the main channel will drain more quickly now so the lagged outflow from the canals will be easier.

Well over 7000 people here now Steve.
Still no traffic lights but it's the roundabout capital of the world.

In Caloundra as a whole>?
Never forget the first surf I had at Moffats as a kid, it felt surreal to be surfing over rock bottom.

No. That's the population of Pelican Waters.steve shearer wrote: ↑Mon Aug 08, 2022 3:57 pmIn Caloundra as a whole>?

Caloundra is over 50,000 but that's including Pelican Waters, north to Currimundi and west to the new development at Aura near the highway and down to Bells Creek.

Moffs is as you say, surreal.
The rock bottom doesn't change but swell direction, tide, swell period all combine to produce totally different waves pretty much every day.

The rock bottom makes it very similar to Fairy Bower which was my go to spot in Sydney.

Re: Bribie Island Breakthrough.
I agree it's a bit compressed but Lennox and Pelican Waters have about the same population.
Add in Ballina and Lismore and you've got a bigger population slightly more spread out.
