But would definitely agree that anyone discussing anything with you will come out, maybe not worse for wear, but frayed at the edges and feeling a little bit dirty on the inside.

I was just about to mention them.
They've made some improvements on the earlier versions.
Gath is probably still the gold standard.

Heaps of kids wear Gaths. The soft ones will make him look like a rugby player, which might go down well at Porter Reserve.

On our trip to png there was a booger who wore a rugby soft helmet. He was a charger. Didn’t get a head injury, but he fractured a vertebra on a shallow reef

Sorry, can’t imagine why you would take a little kid anywhere to surf that required a helmet. Not good for anyone in the line up.
