Who is gonna whinge about the QLD and NSW surf forecasts on swellnet now that Steve is doing them?

Can Steve still pull off the, “gonna be shit at Lennox, gurgle swell, no banks, bad winds etc” in the forecast and then pump it up a few days after the fact?

You're doing a great job btw Steve. And all the punters seem happy.

Never seen so many dolphins as today. The pod must have had 30+ in it. People were all stopped between Tama and Bronte watching. Probably end up on social media. Quite a few babies. Six or seven catching waves at once. Pretty great.

Local dolphins probably bummed at all the blow ins. Brazilian dolphins are the worst.

Plenty of party waves. Seemed to be teaching the youngsters to surf.

Been two large seals playing in the line up and hunting the salmon etc. Shark talk has started.

Mexican Comp looking good. Slater still looks better on waves like that than the majority of contestants.

He's surfing good but definitely looks a bit puffed at the end of each ride.

From Stu at Swellnet

Keen readers of Swellnet may have noticed a new byline appearing on select surf forecasts over the last fortnight.

Actually, ‘reappearing’ is the more accurate description.

It’s been nearly ten years since Steve Shearer worked for Swellnet. In that time governments have risen and fallen, a non-surfing billionaire bought the sport, and a bastard bug brought the world to its knees - and there’s been the odd spot of surfing too.

With Steve back on board it kinda feels like the old band is getting back together. He was already with Swellnet when I started and we worked on some fun projects together before parting ways. During the interlude, Steve wrote for many publications, that work only reinforcing my belief that he’s the most talented surf writer of our generation - though if you get me on a good day I’ll tell you he’s the most talented of all time.

He’s also versatile. Fella can easily switch modes from creative to analytical - from right to left-brain - come forecast time. Steve’s currently writing our East Coast forecasts, studying a body of water he knows intimately, but before long he’ll have both hemispheres firing, contributing to Swellnet on the editorial side as well.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

Fighting words there for Carroll, eh?
We don’t want Steve getting a big head now.
