I’ve never been to Bali, and never wanted to, but those photos have got me very interested in an out of season trip.

Nusa dua was completely different to what I expected.

If I'd listened to the "experts" on here I would never have gone.

It's fcukign amazing.

And we only surfed a 1/4 of the really good waves within 15mins of where we were staying.

That’s because ‘real surfers’ keep it on the down low.

Although this is what I said in Jan 2024 of a Bali discussion.

Jeezuz are we trying to keep Bali a secret now?

Seen any of the videos of Lombok recently?

Not many people surf it (Nusa dua) because it's shifty, a long way off the beach and there are variable currents.

What were “the experts” on here saying Steve?
The only negative I could think of with those lesser surfed little spots on the east side is that they tend to be affected easily by changes in tide, wind and swell more than the more consistent spots and so don’t stay good for any more than a few hours at a time. Your experience might have been different, but that’s what I found.

They were saying Nusa dua was a complete shitehole and not worth visiting.

The swell stats are the same as all the bukit breaks, its the wind that is the problem. Nusa Dua is mainly onshore for nine months a year, Ulus is mainly offshore for nine months a year

Here's Surf-Forecast's wind stats for Nusa Dua (seasons are southern hemisphere months):

Summer: Offshore 87%
Autumn: Onshore 57%
Winter: Onshore 97%
Spring: Onshore 59%

For Uluwatu:

Summer: Onshore 64%
Autumn: Offshore 79%
Winter: Offshore 98%
Spring: Offshore 73%
