Just watching the highlights show. Cunt of a wave, but it sorts them out. Love the bigger boards and big carves. Some of those airdrops are insane.

Overheard a classic adult learner rant out in the surf this morning. This girl who surfs at Bondi regularly was regaling a couple of guys about how some people seemed to think they had more right to the waves than she did. This went on for quite a while. What made them think they should get more waves than her. I was glad I was nowhere near her. She was more or less demanding the top spot on the take off on a reasonably crowded day.
I watched her on a wave a while later. She could basically trim diagonally on a midlength in a semi crouched stance with her front arm out and get the board to go up and back down the wave face a little bit with some difficulty.

I say either stomp on her board or take a bite out of it, Ken Bradshaw style. Own it, beany. It's YOUR break!

The funny thing was she kept prattling on to anyone near her for ages. She kind of talked her way into being given way more waves than her skill suggested she should have. Classic pushy eastern suburbs behaviour.

Appease her. Let her stand on your board for a little while.

Avoidance is the only sensible procedure. Definitely not on her own with this attitude. Just funny to hear it verbalised.

Consider filling out this survey on the economic value of surfing in Australia:

Surfing in Australia might bring some tourist dollars like with the “shrimp on the barbe” affect however, surfing itself is not open to everyone because it’s probably the most difficult sport to learn of all sports. And hence has little to no economic impact bar retail culture.
