Surprising it hasn’t happened before.

I guess with vests, ski’s and other safety equipment, the odds are greatly reduced. But if you get knocked out, different story.

I'm surprised that got approvals and I'll be even more surprised if it gets built.Trev wrote: ↑Fri Jan 06, 2023 11:12 amNew Sunny Coast surf spot due to open next year.

I took a look at their early proposal for someone, and there were quite a few issues.

I've been past and they're definitely under way.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

Re: Just general surfing stuff
It fucks up the hydrology and causes flooding issues. Australia Zoo was against it for traffic reasons, and they have clout.
The main issue was zoning, it's a huge development in an area not zoned for it.
The economics were ludicrous, wonder which sucker is paying for it.

Looks a good idea based on the 'well known developer'

Looks like council has given it the go ahead.
I'll watch with interest.
With the housing development going on around Landsborough and Beerwah, I reckon a surf pool is the least of the traffic worries for Australia Zoo now.
Do the ludicrous economics apply to all sites with that pool design, or just this location?

Re: Just general surfing stuff
I don't think they had a pool developer on board when I looked at it. It was the development itself, and their ideas about how many people would visit.
I think for pretty much all of these it's just a clever way of getting a big housing development approved, like they used to do with marinas. The marina or wavepool is just the trojan horse that let's them bypass some of the restrictions or get a councillor horny for it, it never actually makes any money.
A lot of developers got excited by that wavegarden development in Brazil that (allegedly) increased in value by some huge margin when they added the wave park. That doesn't translate well though.

Watching the Burleigh single fin.
I used to really like Jed Smith’s writing and commentary.
Now he seems to go too far down into his character where he needs a stupid expression for every sentence.
Every now and then he talks pretty straight and he’s fine again.

No fun watching that come at you. And probably a couple more after lol
Erase.
Re: Just general surfing stuff
That’s a heavy area too. Lots of water moving and if not careful you end up on the rocks.
Re: Just general surfing stuff
Another big pulse of swell is coming too. Pretty crazy out there at the moment.
