Re: Just general surfing stuff
A bit like when someone advertises a surfboard and states that it goes well in good surf ... which is code for its a dog.
Anyway ... here's Snapper at the moment ... split the peak.

The moving finger writes and having writ moves on ... now all thy piety nor wit shall lure it back to cancel even half a line ... nor all thy tears wash out a single word of it.

One of the most redeeming qualities about the McCoy nugget is how much NC hates it.

Everybody knows it’s what color the board is dictates performanceHatchnam wrote: ↑Thu Feb 04, 2021 8:35 amMcCoy nugget advert on gumtree reads

Really? The dome is in front of the fins. Last place you’d want your backfoot on that board.
“NOTE: THIS IS NOT AN XF POP OUT VERSION”
So? You think that’s your custom PU is really going to make much difference?
Erase.

Re: Just general surfing stuff
thanks offshore1, excuse my late response but i wanted to find a picture to give you a good idea of our situation and then one popped up on facebook only today - we're under the red-tiled roof behind that rock outcrop at centre left:
Re: Just general surfing stuff
the picture was taken by a certain "box thắng nguyen" whom i don't know but who gave it up to facebook and tagged it "bai xep beach", which is how i found it. it shows how narrow our beach gets at this time of year (every year i've seen since 2014), with the mainly northeast swells of winter taking the sand away and shifting it to a beach just around the corner to the south (out of the picture to the right). from march to september the sea is mostly calm and the swells come mainly from the south and bring the sand back to our beach, so by june at the base of our front wall there'll be a 15-metre stretch of sand to water's edge. underneath our building is all rock like that rock outcrop.

So Al does Bai mean beach in Veitnamese?
After your pic I checked out kind of where it is.
Looks great.
So it's south of Hoi An?
Do you see much Cham stuff in the area?

here's a shot from next to our place one day in august 2019 showing how much wider the beach usually gets - that's the end of the rock outcrop on the left:
Re: Just general surfing stuff
Bãi means beach in this context but it gets different meanings in combination with other words or parts of words, for example "bãi xe" means parking lot.
You do see Cham stuff around the province (of Binh Dinh) as just north of the city of Quy Nhon the Cham had their capital Vijaya for close to 500 years from the 10th century. Here are a couple of short interesting reads with pictures of Cham towers:

This wikivoyage entry for Quy Nhon has some interesting stuff about the Cham in the area as well: https://en.wikivoyage.org/wiki/Quy_Nhon.
The provincial museum has a fair bit of Cham sculpture on display, and funnily enough you can go to the Musée Guimet in Paris to see these Cham sculptures taken from Binh Dinh too:
Rapacious colonising scum
Anyway, pretty cool! I can dig the ancient spirit of this area. Maybe I will ask for my ashes to be scattered in the sea there when the time comes and go with the flow.
