Another add photo.
When Kevin Platt was working for Danny Keyo surfboards.
Found this pic in an Australian surf mag called Surf International, the editor was John Witzig.

That's cool! Yeah my grandparents were pretty cool the way they got in behind dad and his surfing mates!

Seriously... I am so stoked that you are willing to put these up! I know my brothers and sisters will flip out seeing them all.
Cheers!

Rachel.
Glad to help.
Here are a few suggestions as to people who may be able to give you more info about your father.
Carl Tanner, surfboard collector, has one of your fathers boards on display at the 'Surf World Gold Coast' surfing museum at Currumbin.

The editors of the surf magazines from the late 60's early 70's.
John Witzig.
Paul Witzig .
Alby Falzon.

Rachel.
If you are after any footage of your father surfing, there is a surf movie called 'Ride a white horse' where you see him ride one wave at Honolua Bay.
One of the old mags I've got says he went to Hawaii in 63/64.
The movie was made by Bob Evans and it was a kind of Australian version of The Endless Summer, it's worth checking out just for the narration.
The Byron Bay part of this movie is on youtube.

Hi. Back around '85 or '86 I bought 2 surfboards. One was a Kevin Platt "Heart model" from the Keyo shop of Danny Keogh. It's a 1967 model, 9 ft, vee bottom, stringerless, fitted with a "shark" fin (up until 65 boards had skegs, but George Greenhough pushed Bob McTavish to improve fins, based on what fast fish look like).
I rode that board quite a lot from Ballina to Byron until 1990 when I moved away. Besides riding some very small and very big waves (Sept '87) I got a 4th place in the one year they had a mal section of the Lennox Masters (Phil Meyers won, I think). What a board.
I didn't ever meet Kevin, but I sometimes surfed with George G, Bob McT and Rusty M, who seemed to understand why I chose to ride a classic. It was good fun. Great fun.
My other board in 1986 was a tiny mal - 7'2" , channels and 3 fins, made by Gary Timperley. If it was 4" longer, I'd say I invented the mini-mal. hehe
