Had a sticky beak at Anna bay on the way back, looks like it’s got potential.

Instead ended up out at merewether before the rain came. Shoulder high plus and super fun, rock-sand bank, kinda like a punchier version of north narra carpark rights, with a jacking take off

Surfed the 6”2 twin

There really isn’t much worth bothering with out Port Stephens/ Nelson Bay way. One Mile sometimes.
Merewether holds a big swell, and beaches to the north within sight of it, sunbird’s beloved Pogos, Bar Beach and Dixon Park. The Newcastle end of Stockton beach can be good. Then further south Redhead and Dudley beach.

I think there's all kinds of names for different sections in different swells along that stretch.
The bucket?

Actually just checked google map, it would’ve been bar beach. Just south of the cooks hills SLSC. Either way, fun bowlz!

Bar Beach is north end. Dixon Park is in the middle near the surf club. Merewether is down the south end near the pool.
Dixon Park is a peak in front of the middle headland on the beach. Left gets really good. Merewether holds serious size.
There’s three SLSCs on the stretch.

I’m going to Newy soon. Ordered a board from MR and will collect from him on my way to Sydney.

If you don’t have a titillating story to tell after this we’re going to be very disappointed.

There are statistically more women than men in Newcastle. Even Steve could pull a root.

Took the Bonzer Speed Egg for a spin in some shapely, small righthanders in the pouring rain. The board just feels so right, incredible speed. Not sure if it’s the concaves or the fins but there is a really unique feeling of the water passing through the tail.

Nice very small conditions today. Was going for a swim but went home and grabbed the foamy. Unfortunately too crowded and out of control. Let a lot of set waves go by when I was in position because of the crowd. One wave I was about to take off and decided to pull back because there was about four people taking off inside. Mal rider next to me lost it on the take off and took out someone paddling out plus the guy taking off next to him. The other two didn’t make it either. Total carnage.
