Without wanting to reignite the wave height debate I was just over at the Bra watching the surf for about 45 minutes while the missus had a dip. I’d call the surf 4-6ft by my scale. 100+ guys of mixed ability in the water. Tide had probably caused more shutdowns but there were a few long running lefts in the mix. No way was it double overhead.

Does the water get dirty around there after an event like that?

You have to catch at least 3 waves for it to be considered a surf ... please try and obey the rules in future.

Copy that, yuke. I got two smokers though.

@buddy, yes. Yes it does. Loads of silt in there! Not so gnarly like up north in flood with upriver farmland sending down dead cows and pesticides though.

The JS? I got a 5’9 Black Box a couple of years ago for $600 from the factory as a second. It was a surprisingly great all rounder. Actually still is and the reason it was a second was that the carbon strip up the stringer wasn’t quite straight. Bargain.

Funny those JS's, people seem to love them or hate them.

They all look pretty standard shortboard material to me.

Stoked its working out .

Water was clear up here, I was really surprised.

Dirty water came through it yesterday thought it would be worse today.

Today 3-4 foot punchy in bal.
Yesterday solid 4-6ft. Big drops, mostly burgers but every now and then get a really good one that linked through the bank.

That’s totally what it is. But executed perfectly.

Better than the Emery?

If so, how?

The emery was a good board.
Preferred good waves but serviceable down to 2 foot if you only had one board in the car.
Drew nice lines on the face with a bit of a longer arc than the JS, rode the barrel well. Was really nice to do a big carve on and put as much as you could into it and it would hold.

Negatives was that it was hard to turn in small, tight pockety waves. That feeling like your way overgunned. Think 3 foot shallow sandbank point. You’d have to think through your turns and plan it a bit more.

JS has a tighter arc through rail turns (not necessarily better than the emery, just a different line), but is effortless out of the lip, feel like you can make any section you turn on and ride out easily. Can bank tight turns in the pocket that the emery couldn’t. Makes me feel like I’m a better surfer than I am. Video footage might beg to differ if there was any.

The other emery is still in the car and does exactly what I want it to in small waves.

Tested surfing after my hernia stopped giving me grief today. I was a bit worried but went okay. Crossshore before the wind picked up and caught about 6 waves before calling it a day. A couple of longish lefts were better than expected.
