Re: Where did you surf today ?
Steve,
is access to the beach open to anyone to drive on or is it only the professional fishermen like up this way?

There's a reason you had that to yourself ... well actually two:
You have heard about the shark attach there?
Did you look anywhere down that beach?

There was some serious chunk about yesterday morning . Hard to believe it was only a 10 second period.

Stockton Beach yesterday morning, very solid size to it and peeling off nicely.
Only downer was the silty water caused by the dredge ship from Newcastle harbour dumping it's muck out near the entrance.

still enough swell around yesterday afternoon for a decent surf. i was standing around looking at bronte/tama, thinking it wasn't worth going in when a mate drove by and said it was better elsewhere. i stayed in till the after-work crowd came down, riding some nice bowls. so good to feel the glide of a glass board under me.

You're locked in to a year of shit surf to balance that trip.

You aren’t the room Yuke You are just a wonky cafe table with a missing rubber pad on the end of one leg.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
I got my mojo back today. I've had a few shoulder and neck problems of late and coupled with a general lack of fitness and some poor technique , not surprisingly i have had a lot of crap surfs lately.
Got the shoulder issues mostly sorted and have focused on my technique, particularly staying low and keeping back leg bent and low and just like that, suddenly it feels like i'm surfing like i know i can.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
little peaky bluewater cannonball wedges.
water was surprisingly warm after three days of NE holocaust- I was sweating when I came in in a 2mill long arm springy.
amazingly, there was no-one out, no-one checking it. I watched for a while, pretty psyched out by the possibility of a cruising GWS eating me alive on such a benign spring day. Just about to go peg a plastic for a flathead in the river when a portly South African, also a keen fisho showed up.
He wasn't keen to surf alone either so we paddled out together, not in the ghey sense that conveys. But with a nice easy sense of camaraderie.
Damm it was fun. Little rocky clumps of reef/rock with sand around then and abrupt little wedges coming in from all angles which reared up on them. I felt young but oddly restrained. Happy to seek out little speed pockets and enjoy the short-lived moments of acceleration and then I got a little bowl and let loose on it and did a wild fins out nosepick, ending in wipeout of course. Fcukng hell, that must feel good to be able to make one of them.
Me and old mate came in. Someone else showed up. He wasn't keen to surf alone either so the African paddled back out and I went and fished the river with a stunning high tide influx of blue water, for a doughnut.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
sharks are never on my mind unless I see one when I'm surfing. and I mean never. If I couldn't surf by myself the majority of the time, i pretty much wouldn't surf at all either.
yet, whenever I take my kids swimming in the creek or ocean, it just about consumes me.

super fun rip bowls, around 3', light offshore, mucking around on the Evo which feels like the hovercraft skateboard out of Back to the Future
think perhaps this evening (like yesterday evening) will challenge the "god it's fcuked in the afternoon therefore death to DS" theory somewhat
