Re: Where did you surf today ?
Mentally, I'm not really in the game to surf closeouts anymore.
I mean I will if I absolutely have to.

I can relate.
Funny how my switch was flicked.
Surfed headbutt beachies and would not go anywhere near the Points.
Then one day, I went completely the opposite.

I’m thinking the old bulldoze all the sand into the gutters strategy has been in play. Really lame banks plus pissy small high tides to really set it off.

Yeah, I know that. I think I could've bided my time and got a couple up to about 5 years ago. Since my shoulder was replaced, I haven't got near to where I was in the physically competitive sense. Mentally is probably farther gone. I'd be flagellating flotsam out theresteve shearer wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2024 2:03 pmStill plenty of expert level shredding going on Vic.
Had to be patient and ready to strike like a cobra when it was go time.
Not for the non-confident.
Any signs of weakness ruthlessly dealt with.

The good thing about points is there is a closeout section or two (especially at my local) which can be either tunnelled through or bottom-turned around to meet up with the next excellent wall!steve shearer wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2024 3:07 pmMentally, I'm not really in the game to surf closeouts anymore.

I'm the same. After so much time spent getting to know the point it's hard to go back to beachies.

yeah, we'll see.
Those types of swells can be pretty underwhelming around here, I reckon.
Especially with these S groundswells leaving the sand so straight.

Straight banks can work around here with that angle.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Yeah, true.
You can also get 30-40 metre sections that close-out or run into deep water.
I'm not frothing, but I'll have a look around.
Much better beachies for that swell angle a half hr drive north or south- but I doubt I can arsed chasing it.

I might end up there if water doesn't look too brown.
Might end up somewhere else too.

Fark, that inside section on the higher tide is just so much fun. Such a good waveWyre wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2024 6:46 pmThe good thing about points is there is a closeout section or two (especially at my local) which can be either tunnelled through or bottom-turned around to meet up with the next excellent wall!steve shearer wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2024 3:07 pmMentally, I'm not really in the game to surf closeouts anymore.

Another day of perfection.
Did a massive big backhand vert reo in front of my son (pupil free day) which was pretty sick.

Apparent temp of 2 degrees this morning. Water temp is around 15. It’s bootie time.

Fun little peaks this morn.
Went where I used to solo surf and there was quite a few crew around.
Luckily spread pretty evenly along the beach.
I was giving a bit of the half conscious stink eye but then this young crew was just chattin to me and were so nice.
This young kid, Ari from Goonellebah, just goes ‘this is so much fun, what’s your name?’.
Haha different breed to what I grew up with.
I’m the old cnut now.
