Interesting thoughts from Phil Myers..

Reading all the he said she said bullshit regarding the contest debate, previously I said wouldn't worry me either way on or off , in fact the World might see how inconsistent this place really is these days if they held one, with all the shark surveillance that would come it would be the most interupted event ever held being at the start of the migration season ,now the real issues people complaining about being inconvenienced should really be concerned about, this year we had one movie filmed in the area , beach car parks closed several times over a period of months and section of ballina closed as well , now I understand 6 movies may be landing in this area this year , also 2 movie studios are proposed adjacent to ballina sorry Byron gateway airport and plans are to widen the runway for international direct flights is anyone getting concerned yet about being inconvenienced. , this will be the last nail in the coffin for the lennox ballina area , prices will skyrocket and locals will eventually be forced out , California here we come. Lets hope the same local intrest in stopping an event that comes and goes transforms into comunity outrage with what is coming from a far bigger risk to our area and will be permanent ,personally the area is already cooked, I had my time here when it was truly a paradise and at 67 my time is running out , so some younger ones need to step up and confront what's happening here because it's going to have much more far reaching effects on your lifestyle than a contest ever will , just look at places like Rincon and Malibu in the states , they were once like lennox head.

Yep. But, “California here we come”might be a stretch.

Steve, does Phil Myers have a point?

Percentages of Ozzies on the Bukit etc.
Yeah that really owes a lot to pro surfing. Right. No more graphic demonstration of the real causes of surf crowding exists than Bali.
Why do think I spend all my time on the Bukit Nick? The answer is because its way, way easier for me to get really good waves there than around Margaret River. Not by a little bit but hugely easier, there's just no comparison between the two places for me.

I agree with, Phil, but also keeping the comp out.
Lennox could be on its way to caba, Pottsville, salt style development - which is horrible.
A soulless extension of the goldy which reminds me more of Florida than Cali, but with slightly better waves.

First part of that he's spot on - the chances of not getting contestable waves at the point over a 12 day or whatever period are pretty high and it's a fair stretch to move all that shit down to the beachies which break a fair way out the back anyway. Logistically it's a dumb spot for a circus.

Should have had it at North Wall

The rest of the piece, well - the horse has bolted...

North wall, while in most years is the opposite, has been the least consistent spot in bal for the last 12 months.

Steve, you think angatta cool is involved in pro surfing or it’s just thud?

I will note that journalists who cover league have no problems covering (and conveying disgust ) when Mitch Pearce sucks off a dog or what have you.
Hey he didn’t suck it off, he just slipped it up the wrong’un. And pissed on the couch.
I hate it when journalists don’t get their facts straight.

Sure I’m a cockhead, no doubt but, I’m up front with Shearer. 100% not me if there is someone online having a crack elsewhere

thuddy plays fair.

who knows Buddy. got a real dull troll vibe about him.

its a free internets, for now. anyone can throw their 2 cents in.

I call that position of Phils; date rape logic.

"she was already pissed and flirting your honour so what harm was slipping her a Mickey and raping her"

horse has already bolted so who fcuking cares in other words.

No disrespect to Phil either he's a top bloke, insanely skilled shaper and totally justified in holding that position.

I don't feel quite ready to go out without kicking against the pricks as hard as I can, and many others feel the same way too.

anyway Buddy knows what little windows are there to be scored.

I taped the skins at Sandon off free to air to VHS back in the day.
They put a really good soundtrack to it.

"prices will skyrocket"

With all respect Steve report back when you stop that happening. Mate who just sold on the hill behind Byron for well over 5 went to an auction at Evans on the weekend to buy a place with/for his daughter. Price guide went from 1.6 to 1.7 before the auction. Some woman from Woollahra stood next to the auctioneer and slapped down every bid. Sale price 3.060
