swellnet:

Thu: Long-range E'ly groundswell building to 8ft+ at most beaches, with 10-12ft+ waves at offshore reefs and bommies. Light to moderate SW winds.

wheres the best place to surf on a big E'ly swell ????

My main concern is wind although it looks the goods for now...

However i might be found hiding in a harbour break thursday  Or somewhere like the bower, away from the real action

Friday looks the goods.

Get ready for the day of the year -- hell day in a hell year.

For god's sake, let me urge and encourage you, don't go in the bloody harbour. Either surf the open beaches, or find somewhere snug on a cliff and watch the full energy of this swell.

And if ya live in a beachfront property at Narrabeen or sth Newport ... go on holidays.

NC why no harbour surf?? Surely if you wanna get a surf in then that woud be the go... i doubt many on here will be heading out to any open beachies on Thurs at least without a jet ski :? (well as long as this swell is as big as i expect ...)

Oh dear.

Revo, well you're gonna do what you do but man this swell should be observed at its finest. At least have a look before going inside the heads.

I don't know why you would bother surfing Sydney breaks on huge swells, unless you are towing into short slabbing rides (if you are good/crazy/stupid enough).

Give me a long pointbreak anyday, and I know exactly where I am heading for the next few days.

Time to wax up the gun. Bring it on Huey!

No doubt i would be there for hours in awe. But just saying i dont think it would be a good idea for most paddling out (or rocking off ect) on thurs, im expecting the biggest swell ive seen in my life (maybe im over predicting) and certainly im not gonna get out there in the middle of it, unless i head to somewhere like brown water or Bower.

Got any good tips for where to watch from NC? Where you or "the chosen one" might be located

If it comes through as predicted, this swell could be very interesting out Solander way. The place is hollowest on an east swell, low tide is middle of the day (when the swell is set to peak) and the wind is supposed to be SW...bang offshore.

Fellas are coming off the back of 6 weeks of consistent swell and will be feeling 10 foot tall and bulletproof. You know what a bit of confidence can do to your act and they've been breaking new ground for the last 5 or so sessions out there and getting away with it. It'll be amazing to see what goes down if the reef holds the size.

Trust me....no vid or photo does justice to seeing it live. Doesn't even come close! If you've got the time it'd be well worth a gander.

If only this swell came a few days later, then id have myself a car to get there :x

How would the Bra's react to camera taken down there ect? If i did happen to find a way there. Im assuming not so kindly?
