8-12ft faces = 4-6ft.

But I think they are overcooking a notch. Especially because they are event forecasters and need a Hollywood finish.

Sorry Steve but I think it will be well over 6ft.

And I take their 15ft+ faces as a call of 8ft, 3x overhead. I think they use 5ft as head high.

I'm standing by my inconsistent 6-8ft with the odd bigger bomb.

In any case it's a big step up from what they've been surfing already.

I'm leaning towards Craig's 6-8ft call and with a pretty good swell period, I reckon you'll see the odd square freak 8ft+ set drain off the reef at dawn on Monday (tahiti time). But the risk is that the peak occurs a little earlier than forecast and it peaks before dawn!!!

Feck me, I know I've bagged SN with their 3-5ft forecasts, but surfline takes the cake. How's this for a surf forecast:

"Building 8-10-12'++ faces, and larger", so is it 8ft or 12ft++ or larger?

"8-12-15'+ faces", so is it fecking 8ft or 15ft+!!!!!

shit eh. Just a couple in the last few years:

- Deep divisions within the Labor Party over leadership; results in ideological split (back then the DLP, today the Greens)
- Long term conservative govt with very cunning and quite ruthless leader who wedges the nation on foreign fears while getting Australia tangled up in a proxy war in support of the US, and actually not doing much else
- Nation essentially coasting on the back of primary industry
- Conservative govt loses power, after brief period of grogginess elects unattractive yet tough as nails leader and begins ferocious program of destabilisation of new Labor Govt
- Said new Labor Govt begins nationwide programs that prove controversial and drive big business crazy
- Global recession (yeah not an Australian thing but ...)
- Rupert Murdoch backs one horse then the other

And a few differences:

- Kevin Rudd wasn't Gough Whitlam. (He, like Whitlam, briefly tamed the Labor Party, seemed to feel he was on a sacred mission and would get furiously angry at colleagues etc, but unlike Whitlam, he wasn't tall, cultured and charming)
- Gough Whitlam wasn't Julia Gillard. (She's waaaay fcuken tougher and more capable.)
- The Coalition doesn't have a majority in the Senate and thus can't block Supply.
- The Rudd Govt did a much better job of handling the economy in a time of global crisis than did either Whitlam or Fraser/Howard.

I think they are trying to explain that there will be range of differently sized waves, you know, some sets bigger than other, etc.

Something rarely noted in surf forecasts of any kind, mostly they just note the top end size and leave it at that.

Surfline also takes "feet" literally, so "12 feet" is double overhead, ie 6'+ in our good ol' common surf parlance.

Ummmm, when you forecast 6-8ft, how the feck is 8ft+ not a bigger bomb set Steve?

I've seen many a forecast of 5-6ft with the odd bigger 6ft+ set in my time so how is this any different to my forecast?

Hey Nicko, what you forecasting?

On a 6-8ft day an 8ft+ wave is not a bomb set.

A ten foot set is a bomb set.

Bomb set would a set significantly bigger than the normal set waves. 8ft+ is not significantly bigger than 8ft.

Or conversely, he could take to the ocean in some lemon nuthuggers and perform some kind of indian rain dance. Only with a tahitian slant, and for swell. Obviously.
