I really hate foam takeoffs.
The older I get, the harder my popups get.
Doing it in a ball of foam is even harder.
At least it’s going to push you in Trev. My worst are ones often found around here that pitch at the crest and then immediately go fat.
Nothing worse at Crescent than an early morning surf with a Southerly Swell. You are looking into the sun and anyone who tries to take off outside on the foam ball is completely invisible until they pop out ofthe foam travelling fast and trying to get to their feet as they hit the pack on the inside. Sometimes two or three people will be on the wave.

Hold on, what did you do when faced with the screaming wall?
I did what any loofy-type Waterman would do. Smacked it in the lip and told it to shut the hell up.

I remember some wheelchair xylophonist getting all macho about how he liked to smash absolutely heaps of Weetbix before a hard day's roofing

Plenty of swell but too straight in my corner spot - holiday crowds have arrived.

Well I will be out of the water for at least a month if not more. So there’s one spot open in the lineup….and the car park.

Keep posting here anyway Beany - thread's not the same without you. Get your missus to roll you down and prop you at the railing of the Icebergs so you can observe and take notes - I have no doubt good material will present itself.

Dawn session at laurieton. Just got in. Only waist to chest high but punchy little peaks breaking top to bottom.

Didn’t go shark hunting at Tuncurry Breakwall?
Had some great little surfs at Laureton.
