Re: Where did you surf today ?
Every time I've seen outside corner over 8', just about everyone is way undergunned. The good guys know where to sit and can pick them off on smaller boards, but most set waves go unridden. On something decent, you could just about pick any wave that you wanted Stevesteve shearer wrote:...big old McCoy left here by a friend. 7'2" by 22" by 31/8 at least 45 litres of volume. Very heavy. 10 years old. A real dilapidated tug boat of a surfboard...I'd choose that over a finely glassed stepup to surf 10ft outside corner because I would have confidence paddling to the things.

Can I see some footage of someone riding a 20' faced wave on a McCoy?
Seems incredible you could get through any whitewater on one.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
the whole point is to use paddle power to get out of the way of the sets and actually catch them.
If you're duckdiving in ten foot surf or bigger you've made a mistake.

Of course. You can't duck dive a board used to surf those type of waves. Couldn't duck dive 10-15 ft wave with a 7ft step up, to much power.

Re: Where did you surf today ?
man these early winds and early morning low tides are really killing my buzz.
there were a few 3-footers with a bit of water behind them this morning ... but the winds and the low tide turned it all into smegma

Godamnit. Everytime I've gone there I've been totally skunked. Looks like such a mad set up.batoes wrote:Lake Tabourie was absolutely pumping all day yesterday. Two massive sessions; rode until my arms wouldn't work anymore. NPJ 2+1 and then my 6'7 displacement hull. Haven't had a session like that all year.
Woonona has been picking up all available NE swell as usual, with minimal crowds (at least at 7.30 am)!?
I'm attributing it to hangovers or something.

Though yesterday was OK with lighter winds till id morning
yeah y'day was ok ... although the tide was mega low around here when i surfed and i couldn't get a go out later on. just close outs into a dry sandpit. haha

Who made the hull?batoes wrote:There was some adjustment. The board is for big stuff - so i don't ride it unless it's big usually, but it was lined up and running quick. The board was good, but i could feel the length working against me. 5'8 and it would have been on!Davros wrote:Good stuff. Take you long to dial the 2+1 or straight back into it?
The hull was insane. Such a different feel.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

Just saw Jamie Mitchell's waves from Nazere. 35-40 ft. He used the word "survival" in his victory speech.
