Re: Where did you surf today ?
Nice surprise today when a look across the road revealed empty 2-3foot beach breaks being fanned by a northerly that had swung just enough west to be glossing it off. Got out there for about 40minutes before the wind got its east mojo back, picked off a few wedges that ran across the bank. Feels like I haven't done a turn in months so it felt nice to hip the lip and even lose the fins on one. Unfortunately the fantasy was ruined by a nasty tangle with a large blue bottle - wrapped around my arm twice and across my knee. Worth it.
Re: Where did you surf today ?
Similar DY today, a lot of fun and bowls for jamming the fins into.

How are the banks at the moment along the longy to poles stretch ? As I'll be picking up my twin from the NBs later next week and wanna give it a go outDavros wrote:Similar DY today, a lot of fun and bowls for jamming the fins into.

HM it was pretty good from 1st walkway DY up to just before the poles. I didn't really look up past the lugger. It's needs 3ft on those banks at mid/lower tide. They aren't working on the high. Look for a left on a south swell around where I described, it was fun. I think it's NE tomorrow but the south liked the banks.

The last 3 days of swell have been fanbloodytastic, with those evening low tides. strong long period swell warm water and evening glass offs , it's great to be in vicco. Ca't say that often.

You were'nt the bloke who went for the lip hit right in front of me, fell off, and nearly landed on me are you? Lucky I can duckdive deep.Davros wrote:HM it was pretty good from 1st walkway DY up to just before the poles. I didn't really look up past the lugger. It's needs 3ft on those banks at mid/lower tide. Bondi......circus. Nice in the water......got five waves when I paddled out somehow......then caught one in after dodging a variety of kooks. Looking forward to a surfari down south after Xmas Day.

Lake Tabourie was absolutely pumping all day yesterday. Two massive sessions; rode until my arms wouldn't work anymore. NPJ 2+1 and then my 6'7 displacement hull. Haven't had a session like that all year.

Good stuff. Take you long to dial the 2+1 or straight back into it?

Re: Where did you surf today ?
Yesterday's surf was hardly worth mentioning - northerly affected wind slop, but there are banks forming and trying to do their thing.
Today however a little bump in the swell revealed a fun left - take off on the rip bowl then it ran all the way through the gutter. Got it to myself for half an hour and pieced together a half respectable back hand. Had a big front blow over and the wind went 180 degrees and blew a gale, turning the side chop into 1 footers. Impressive display of nature to end a fun session.

There was some adjustment. The board is for big stuff - so i don't ride it unless it's big usually, but it was lined up and running quick. The board was good, but i could feel the length working against me. 5'8 and it would have been on!Davros wrote:Good stuff. Take you long to dial the 2+1 or straight back into it?
The hull was insane. Such a different feel.

Managed to snare a good left in amongst the close outs today.
Drove past the Bra....small, bumpy and uninspiring.
