Ex World Champs and company defining product placement associated with them tends to be remembered by the actual surfing management of the companies. Occy was around when they broke the US Market.

Re: Just general surfing stuff
I hang out with a longboard influencer who never won a title and has a much bigger name. I'd never heard of Kelia.
Apparently she has won 2 world championships but my first thought was 'wonder if she's related to the guy who broke his neck in Portugal?'
So if someone who hasn't even made the top competition has more name recognition than a dual champion that tells you something about the brand value.

Boo hangs out with Alex Knost?
Not sure if he’s the demographic the influencers are aiming for.

Amongst women, in my opinion, Kelia Moniz would have 20 times the name recognition of Alex Knost. Partly reflected by Knost’s 74K Instagram followers compared to Moniz’s 729K followers.alakaboo wrote: ↑Wed Jan 03, 2024 6:53 pmI hang out with a longboard influencer who never won a title and has a much bigger name. Maybe, but, so what?
Her sponsor offered her ten cents on the dollar or hit the bricks.
I had no idea she had two world titles and I am paid to write about surfing.
I'd bet a solid chunk I could ask 100 women surfers in the line-up and find less than a handful who knew that.

Who are the followers though?
Like Joel Tudor has a lot less followers than Kelia but I’d say he’s a much bigger surfing name.

Re: Just general surfing stuff
Edit: she won the 2012 and 2013 ASP Longboard Titles, both of which were decided by a single event at Hainan Island.
C'mon, she won 2 longboard comps a decade ago- this is some major Mickey Mouse shitt.
The question should be : how the fuck did she stay on the payroll for a decade after she won a comp?

Anyway, I’m sure she’ll find money somewhere being good looking and stylish on a log but obviously Roxy decided she wasn’t selling much product anymore.
The loud exit gets her name back front of mind perfect for the next sponsor.

Re: Just general surfing stuff
The instagram comments on her Roxy exit post are a grand parade of the big names of surfing.

Wonder what sort of deal Seth gets from Bong.
