I’m riding a 6’1 with a bit of beef. Previously it was 5’10s and 11s.

As we go into winter, I’ll probably get something bigger for the strong offshores and chunk.

Nathan Florence was saying the only land-based exercise he has encountered that seemed particularly good for paddle fitness was using a SkiErg machine.

Is he sponsored by them?
No. The sticker isn’t on his board. Nate just made a passing remark. He is a gym junkie.

I like the pun, beans but still think there are much better suggestions.
I don’t do the illustrated exercises if that’s what you are referring to but the stuff I have done with it for an extended period has kept my core strength pretty constant. Also beefed up the springs. 100% relevant for surfing.
Beany, whatever works for you is the go.
Doing something is better than doing nothing.
If that machine motivates you to do something then great. I don’t think it’s necessary for a strong core though.

To motivate myself, I bought an online program for $200.
Could I have come up with something similar myself?
Sure.
But this laid it all out in front of me and motivated me to get my 3 workouts in per week rain, hail and shine without having to think about it.

It was a 6 week program but now I just use the template and sometimes substitute the exercises in it too mix it up.

And I use the warmup they provided daily. Easy, routine, don’t have to think about what I’m gonna do as I know it back to front.

Works for me.

Definitely. My missus bought the machine off some friends who were going OS. I definitely wouldn’t have bought it myself but I’ve found the particular exercises I do on it really improves my core strength and balance. There’s a few light weights I use as well lately.
Also have used bolsters and a few other things to stretch after surfing.
Since I’ve retired I have made it an objective to surf every day possible regardless of how crap it is. That’s been really good but I was getting really really stiff in the back and shoulders after a few days.
My daughter was a yoga instructor for a while and is still pretty full on with it. She really helped me with stretches. So going pretty well at the moment.

I find the Swedish Penis pump an excellent apparatus to improve my technique, especially my pop up. Barring that (sorry) I just keep the weight down and surf a bit.

Sandon point. 3-4 foot. Good swell direction but with moderate onshore winds jumbling things up, though still some good runs linking thru to the boat sheds.

Jeebus. It’s not much better down here. I’m hoping for the 2up exodus as well. There’s fuckers everywhere at the moment. Doesn’t help that it’s 25 degrees down here today, it’s offshore, and there’s a few little waves.

I still don't buy the "official" narrative about 9/11. Oh sure, it happened, fcuk yeah. But who and why and how I'm, not convinced it was what we've been told.

It's not as depressing as when there's a small wave at Lorne point and 50 blokes waiting for that one rideable peeler every 15 minutes
