Could you imagine the hood Steve would wear in Dunedin?
He'd probably need one of those diving bell helmets.

Jeezus, out of all the places in NZ, Dunedin isn’t one I’d choose for cold water surf.Hatchnam wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 2:57 pmDunedin, surely that would tempt you. Taranaki, Raglan, Shippies, even Gissie and Coromandel.

Well they're all North Island and not really that cold compared to Dunedin, which is a fair distance further South than the bottom tip of Tassie.channels wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 8:42 pmJeezus, out of all the places in NZ, Dunedin isn’t one I’d choose for cold water surf.Hatchnam wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 2:57 pmDunedin, surely that would tempt you. Yeah, I'm not that much of a pussy I wouldn't surf the North Island.
I want Nightclub Dwight dead in his grave I want the nice-nice up in blazes
Re: Just general surfing stuff
Yeah, but the chances of scoring in Dunedin compared the north island spots is really, really low.buddy wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 8:50 pmWell they're all North Island and not really that cold compared to Dunedin, which is a fair distance further South than the bottom tip of Tassie.channels wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 8:42 pmJeezus, out of all the places in NZ, Dunedin isn’t one I’d choose for cold water surf.Hatchnam wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 2:57 pmDunedin, surely that would tempt you. We spent a couple of years in Dunedin when we were kids, think we might have gone to preschool or kindergarten in Halfway Bush. Most of the memories are vague, but I do remember coming across Tintin for the first time in Dunedin Public Library - the Red Sea Sharks. We even took that one home, a cancelled book with a torn cover. One of Dad's best mates still lives there, near Port Chalmers to be precise, and sends us pictures of waves from time to time. We'll go back to retrace our steps and take a look around one of these days I reckon, go for a surf!
Re: Just general surfing stuff
I met a bodyboarder from Dunedin over in Pascaules.
He was living on $15 a day including rent.
He had a little one man tent setup next to the outdoor undercover dining tables of our accom and he’d give em a couple bucks to setup there. Would cook up his own rice and tinned tuna. Not sure if he ate anything else, maybe a bit of fruit.
It took me 2 weeks to realise his name was Ben, not Bin.

I’d like to visit Dunedin to see Baldwin Street, the world's steepest street.

Read this James K. Baxter poem too Steve:
Dunedin nights are often cold
(I notice it as I grow old);
The south wind scourging from the Pole
Drives every rat to his own hole,
Lashing the drunks who wear thin shirts
And little girls in mini-skirts...

Beanpole has ruined Dunedin as well?

Insane. Bombing the hill is one thing, but his slide to slow down is up there with one of the best roundhouse cutbacks to speedcheck I've ever seen!buddy wrote: ↑Wed Feb 01, 2023 6:39 pmTake your skatey.
