The black Beauty is awesome, the unflinching stability and the ability to make steep drops in waves of consequence and it just loves them. I have done the best turns of my surfing life on that board, especially backside reos and roundhouses. If there is a better board for driving off the bottom and racing down the line...well I don't know what it is. BUT it absolutely sucks is fat gutless waves, even if they are clean. My theory on that is the rail chine that runs all the way from nose to tail is the culprit. The board needs to be moving quickly to find that release edge and get on the plane. Luckily I have a heap of boards for those conditions!
