Very nice!
Check out the line-up of three hurricanes at 2015-07-07, 1200hrs.

How come they never fill in the isobars at the south pole?

This pulse off the polar vortex was way, way above expectation.

with the strong westerlies it felt more like WA.

I got caught in a panic this morning.
Dropped the kids off and started getting frantic texts, points pumping, biggest feeding frenzy ever at Sharps etc etc.
I wanted a fish in the fridge before a go-out and went to investigate the feeding frenzy. Problem was, after getting a ticket from the daughter about shabby dressing I had bone chinos on, a navy blue cashmere sweater and a irish woolen scarf. Not quite rockfishing attire.
Still, the frenzy was as impressive as described. 2 or 3 bait balls about a football sized each and squadrons of gannets divebombing and flapping into the westerly to get going. I could only get a cast in by rockhopping through a tidal lagoon out to a super exposed ledge. And it took about twenty seconds before the first set soaked me. Released two lousy bream and thought we'd eat chicken tonight.
The lines sweeping into the Bay were sublime.

The first bump of swell had too much SSW in it and bypassed Sydney. Tonight's pulse will hopefully be directed for the northern beaches.

Nick, it was much bigger and better further north... :-)(

Rode this Simon Jones MP single this arvo in the sneaky swell at the point

Full side-slipping bottom turning on a hollow one that came through but went ok in general. Big flex fin really twangs off the bottom.

Not my board but I use that wax job on a few of mine.
South swell had some bite to it.

Yeah swell was surprisingly wobbly this morning considering how groomed it was yesterday arvo.

Probably the two swell periods in the water this morning.

wasn't wobbly here. Straight as a gun barrel. Just half the size and twice as crowded.

surfed my north coast point again. seriously fun lined up walls, one and half overhead on the biggest sets. Really hollow too on this bank, but the sweep was strong as the tide dropped. no more than ten guys out.

wearing a steamer, er? 3x2?

my 2mm short arms is letting in water everywhere. the knee patch fell off last week. just wondering what i should buy next. i went all of last winter not wearing a steamer and the winter before that i think i wore it one month.

don't really wanna get a steamer that i wear for a month, but i don't really want another 2mm short sleeve that i get cold in a month a year and they last 1.5 seasons max.

the confusion of surfing continues ...

Wind in Sydney gets cold from the SSW but water is fine - been wearing a long arm short leg 2 mm all winter..no problems.

3 X 2. Which up until this last fortnight hasn't been warranted. Water feels colder now. Few blokes are in 2mm steamers but I'm not sold on em as they're all the hassle of getting into long sleeves etc.

The long sleeve, short leg thingos seem built for QLD.

i don't like short legs/ long arm combos. my meniscus' starts clicking in the cold.

yeah i surfed today in my 2mm short arm steamer ... it keeps out about as much water as boardies. up until last week when it really shit itself it'd be fine for winter here.

where the 2mm is winning is its flexibility. apart from a bit of tightness around the neck, it's like wearing nothing. where it's losing is, in 5-6 years of wearing them, i'm yet to get 2 full winters out of 'em.
