Looks impressive. Forecasted to remain very stationery too, is that odd at such latitude?
Chopes to go cray-cray!

yeah it'll probably be pretty good but that storm is focused on NZ and points directly north (ie Tonga, Cook Islands, Hawaii)
and us. If it wasn't for New Zealand. New Zealand is the Australian east coast's great curse as far as deep dish groundswells go.

thank christ nz is there. our bathymetry up here could not cope with deep dish groundswells.
it'd be 500+ metre longshore closeouts every where except burleigh and snapper. the crowd situation would be what we call, "untenable".

Lennox Point loves those long period swells but people have no idea that you can get a two wave hold down on an East coast pointbreak if you get caught on the back button.

btw Nick, Hawaii is not north of NZ.

not "directly north".
ie if you sail due north of NZ you will not reach Hawaii.

yeah I was talking v generally as you have to with swells. The storm's a bit east of NZ too.

well the Sydney bommies would be fcuken nuts and everyone would move from the Goldie down the south coast.

Interesting but curious
Why would people want a two wave hold down ??
They don't. They just don't believe it's possible.
Lennox on one of those rare ten to twelve foot days with 15+ second swell periods and straight E direction has a Mavericks lite outside take-off reef to deep water which can hold you down for two waves.
