Re: Can anyone use some balsa

Fong, what do you intend to do with it? It'll only make a small board, about 6 foot by 16 or 17 inches.
One condition of getting this stuff is to keep us all informed and updated on the project with photographic evidence.

Can anyone use some balsa

I just found a stack of balsa at the tip, 16 lengths of 920 mm x 50 x 50. Brand new! I'd love to lay it up and shape something out of it but that's not going to happen. Can anyone use it for something practical and nice?

Re: Where are they now ??????

I just had Jeremy Byles "fix" a couple of boards for me at his "shop" in Byron. He's a character is a polite way to describe him. He did a rubbish job on the boards which his mate re-did up to crap standard. He was into the Coopers at 11 a.m. when I dropped the boards off. When I picked them up at 6...

Re: Paradise Lost for Aussie Surfboard Makers Amid China Imp

Do you think they have any form of OHS regulations in China? All the above examples would occur at least once every 30 seconds in every Chinese workplace and the method of remedy would be to wheel in another peasant to take the victims place. Just another way they've got us beat. All Chinese imports...

Re: Paradise Lost for Aussie Surfboard Makers Amid China Imp

It'll all be okay if the Republicans can get back in this year.. Newt Romney will be forever known as Nuke Romney after he runs up another couple of trillion in debt to the Chinese, then reneges on said debt by blasting them back to the stone age with every effin drone the Chinese ever built for the...

Re: Australian surfers are bogans

Must do's for Aussies in Europe: Wear Aussie flag or other indication of country of origin in case locals don't pick up on extra loud bogan accent and subsequently miss opportunity to admire you and become so jealous. Urinate on a famous monument in at least 3 different countries, extra points for p...

Re: The Surf Helmet Discussion

I noted that, Beer. There's also an excellent chance of getting smacked in the head while at the pub, so better wear one there, too. Nobody will say anything. And next time it's cloudy, it could easily turn into a hail storm so I'm getting my Garth on while all the other losers only have their broll...

Re: "More" surfboards board porn!

MP, re the bevelled edge: a mate has a kneeboard with a bevel under the rail, although it follows a very deep concave, so the hard rail edge is lower and the bevel sort of flatter, if you know what I mean. Because the outside of the deep concave is rolling down, the bevel sort of forms just a slight...

Re: the boy in bali on pot charges

On odd occasions if you drive drunk, you get caught and lose your licence. Fair cop. Sometimes, you crash and kill someone. Or yourself. But most times you seem to get home safely. You're still an idiot if you drink and drive, considering all the possibilities. Make an example of this imbecile for a...

Re: Different doards..Different Attitudes

I was in Surfection ( God knows why ) a few years ago looking for something a bit Mark Richardsy fishlike when the young upstart shop assistant tells me " surfings changed, man "( and was probably thinking " if I wasn't working here I'd be on the tour" ). No it hasn't. That same idiot probably now o...

Re: Greg Webber and frictionless fins?

Thanks Nick, that's interesting. I wonder what everyone would have guessed as a top speed, I'm not sure I would have gone as high as 50 kph. Now that we have some sort of speed benchmark, how much difference do you think fin and foil variations would make? We all understand a flatter rocker, concave...

Re: Greg Webber and frictionless fins?

Does anyone here have any idea of how fast a surfboard can actually go? Like what kind of speeds are those guys doing down the giant wave faces, or what kind of speed are you getting at 4 foot fast point break and is there a massive difference between those two or only a few kph? What I'm trying to ...

Re: more stolen stuff

I hate thieves with an unusual passion, growing up in an area where it was a bit of a sport. The thing that keeps them going at it, though, is a ready market for stolen goods. Cunce who buy stolen goods are as bad as the thieves themselves. If ever approached with a deal too good to refuse your imme...
