Re: White Horses - new surf mag
... no doubt setting me and my amateur 'narration' skills up for some RS-style scrutiny, but the story represents what I'm stoked with about the nag mag – now four issues in, and a year down the track... Re: Fiji 2012
I think the best commentator I have heard was Phil MacNamara at the Burleigh WQS comp i think. Phil is very experienced coach and he had some great comments about technique, wave selection and heat tactics that I found much more interesting than the usual "fwore, he's going to town" stuff that usua...

Re: White Horses - new surf mag
"White Horses"? they've got to be fcuking kidding, it sounds like a surf mag for your dad circa 1962 Why don't they just call it "Shoot the Curl" and be done with it I hear ya smnmntll... I questioned that myself. The name wouldn't dislodge itself no matter hard I bashed it against the rock of logi...

Surfing while on medication (Warfarin)
G'day. A buddy of mine is going to be on a blood thinning medication (long term) called warfarin, and his doctors advise surfing's likely a no-no. I know it's likely a longshot but was wondering if anyone in RS land has had any experience with this treatment, and if so, what strategy they've used to...

Re: Debate over shark killer rages
Gotta say the idea of a 'rogue' shark would be kinda funny if it wasn't for the circumstances that prompted this debate. The concept of a shark that somehow gets a taste for human flesh and turns mean (and thus must be dealt with) .... I could be wrong but it feels to me like like we're swapping ins...

Re: It's 5am in J-Bay.
Still, commentating would be a tough gig for any amateur. I think he gets paid Technically professional (ie: paid), but not really pro . ya know? But commentating must be a tough gig, and realistically few of us critics could do better: in (say) a half hour heat at least 20 minutes might be taken u...

nothing against Luke Egan, easily in my top five goofys of all time, but if he says 'committed' one more time I'll...(oh, hang on he just said it again ... and again ... fark.) Still, commentating would be a tough gig for any amateur.

Re: It's 5am in J-Bay.
Best commentary call? Occy complimenting Nate Yeoman's (I think) natural affinity with the wave: “He's taken to J-Bay like candy to a baby”. Pure comic gold.

Re: Time to start judging the journos!
Like Gra, aiming satire at soft, amorphous targets, who by and large are weak and powerless is kind of self-defeating. Why not use the talent to make fun of the rich and powerful? Taking aim at the everyman is shooting fish in a bowl. Hi Steve. Not a fan of debating in public but you invoked my wor...
